The Golf Club at Rancho California

Awesome parkland layout that is challenging yet rewarding if you play it smart. Love this track. Easy to see why it was used as a competition course for so long.

I don't know who's writing the kind reviews in the last month or two but they must be employees or owners. This was potentially the worst course I've played. Only Links at Summerly could compare but even that is improving fast. The positive: Staff was friendly...the end. Let me cover the general areas of a golf course. Fairways: covered with crawling weeds (native ground cover). Other areas were bare. Some lower areas (watershed areas) had extremely deep grass of 8 inches or more. Bunkers: I was in two bunkers during my round. The first was simply dirt. The second was also dirt but had an endless supply of rocks about half the size of the golf ball. Rough: The rough was like the fairways only MUCH longer. The rough made US Open rough seem short. Same weeds and long grass but much longer. Finally, the tee boxes: One was completely skinned bare. A few were tolerable (not good). Others liked like a busy driving range at closing time.

Bottom line, the course conditions make the course about a 145 slope and not in a good way. It's a joke. Word is that it was for sale and it looks like they quit spending money prior to sale. I only saw one greens worker and he was driving a tractor with no attachments. Golf shop is virtually empty. Everything stopped in 1985 here. Like I said in the headline...don't go.

Fairways were way too overgrown, rough was probably 8 inches thick. Greens were too spongy. Very disappointed with how the course is looking. No marshal in sight, had 4 single players in front of us round took 4.5 hours on a Monday. I won’t be back. Save your money might as well play Cal Oaks at this point.

course was fun, challenging but let's you play. only thing was course could have more yardage markers on the par 4 and 5's. some parts weren't kept up as well as others

I gave 4 out of 5 only because of the current conditions. The fairways were long and some bunkers were muddy. It’s the summer time so I know this is common. That being said everything else was great. The layout is challenging with both short and long par 4s.. The greens were perfectly soft and sticky (best part of the course)… $50 at 7am is great value for summer and I would definitely say it’s a $100 during season. Highly recommend

Course has gone Way down hill. Overgrown grass and weeds All over. Greens are starting to go now.

When so many other courses in the area are starting to burn out and turn brown, the one thing Rancho California has going for it is that it is green from tee to green.

Now with that, the one thing is does need is a serious mow.

Not sure why, but it hasn't been mowed for several days when I played on 8/21/22.

The fairways were indistinguishable. Balls would land and not roll, the grass was that high. The rough was absurdly out of control. The greens though were just fine.

With the rough being out of control, lost a couple of balls that should've been easily found in normal conditions just a few paces off the fairway.

So in short, all good....just needs a mow.

I enjoy the course and I have played here a few times. I will return for sure. Overall, the course is maintained well even during the summer months when things tend to dry out. The price is reasonable. Little disappointing that we had 100-degree weather and there was no cart girl for beverages.

Greens are good, boxes not flat but there are spots. Good value.

I really like the layout of this course, fair but tough. Course conditions were good, greens were great as usual , rough was a little out of control in some areas. Finding a ball even just off the fairway was challenging, and then hitting when in deep areas was tough. Doesn’t help pace of play! Fairways are bare in some spots, but with the heat and water problems it’s par for most so cal courses.

Had not played the course for some time. Pleased to find the fairways getting enough water to actually have some green grass was kind of burned out a year back. Greens in good condition. Overall was an enjoyable day.

In spite of the history of the course and it’s interesting layout, I won’t drive 50 miles again to play this course because it’s not in very good condition.

Greens are in good shape. Fairways and tee boxes need some work. A few months ago the fairways were in much better shape. On a hot day it would be nice to have the beverage cart out.

Can be a really nice course with its layout but would need to put a lot of time and money to make the tee boxes fairways and greens nice.

Really cool, but very tough course. Bring extra balls. Worth it!

Slow bumpy greens. Most Holes rolled over and smaller than regulation. Fairways dry and patchy
