Horrible Course Management! Avoid at all costs
I played at this course this past Saturday, and what a train wreck of an experience! I was a single going out at 11:45, got their an hour early to hit balls and warm up. I check in with the starter for my tee time and he tells me that I am paired up with a single where I was supposed to go out with a three some before and we didn't tee off until 11:55 am. He told me they were sent out 45 min early and no one told me. Plus the fact that we were only a twosome going to be behind all these foursomes and threesomes. Pace of play was horrible, and the staff handled the situation poorly! I talk to the course management about this issue, and they tell me that they can’t give a raincheck or anything. That tells me that they don’t care about the golfers experience, so avoid this place at all costs! One of the worst managed courses in California!
Good course
I was in LA for business and stayed through the weekend to visit my son. I kind of got a late start on getting a tee time for a Saturday. I knew it was going to be pure luck if I could get a reasonable time nearby. Luckily, I found a 9 AM tee time at this course . Read some of the GN reviews so I decided to jump on it. It was a 90 minute drive but for $65 for Trent Robert Jones sr course on the weekend, what the heck.
It is a fun, challenging track. Up and down hills cut thru a housing community. The fairways and landscaping need some love but you can tell that this course was really nice once. I played with some locals who said they the course had gone through multiple owners in
the last 5 years or so.
The greens were in great shape probably rolling above average speed. Got to drive the ball well as some holes require a precise tee shot.
I was really happy with the course. I would definitely play it again. Hopefully that next time, the course is up to its full potential.
White sand traps
Play moved right along. Our foursome finished close to four hours. Good pace.
Course maintenance in progress while we were playing. Putting pro sand in all the bunkers. Project is still on going and is amazing.

Golf Club at Rancho California
It has been over 10 years since I last played this course, way back when it was the SCGA Member Course. I remember this course being in much better condition. The fairways were lacking in continuous, even grass from tee to the greens. The greens were okay having good speed, but damaged areas on some. Some of the bunkers had newly replaced sand, which looked nice, but the water features on 1, 13 and 15 needed help. All of the staff were fantastic but the course and clubhouse could use some love. I probably won’t return unless I hear fantastic things about the place.
Always good.
Pace of play was good, course conditions also good, I’ve never had a bad experience here except pace of play sometimes, but that’s cause people like to come here.
Needs some TLC
This course has the look and feel of a once beautiful project that has been let go for some time. It could use some TLC. Simple stuff like freshening up tee boxes, trimming hedges and grass, so basically freshen up the landscaping and it would be a polished diamond.
paid extra $10 for single cart, played alone with no others
didn't feel good paying extra dollars for the cart as there were no player to share with.....
