Shandin Hills Golf Club

The course used to be well maintained. But there apparently has been a total loss of care and love. Everything without exception needs care. Fairways seldom yield a good lie. You can walk into bunkers and not leave a track. Hard and compacted sand. And now the once beautiful greens that rolled true have been taken over by cab grass. The green fees do not reflect the conditions. It's a lost chance for good and fair golf. The recovery is going to be slow and expensive

I'll cut to the chase. The greens were horrible! I landed on one green but it looked more like the surface of a distant planet. Another green had strange patches of different grass growing from it. It was like playing snooker. They should drop the price with greens like that. Not worth the $70 I paid.

I’ve played Shandin Hills many times, and for the price it’s a fun place to play. This was by far the worst place I have ever played, due to maintenance conditions. The rough was so bad and the fairways were not much better. I sincerely hope that it was an anomaly due to ??? As I stated, I’ve played here before and that’s why I booked yesterday. But I won’t be going back again unless it gets back to where it was before. It would have been nice to know course conditions prior to booking.

Some tee boxes were brown grass dry. Many greens were sandy with damaged areas. The pace of play was very slow with no sign of Marshall’s to speed up the pace. Trains going past are a regular event as is the roar of freeway traffic alongside the course. Many areas were very dry while others were sopping wet. I played on Labor Day weekend so the pace of play can be excused but not the other conditions.

I used to tell people to play this course because even though the fairways and bunkers have always lacked any redeeming qualities, the greens were always legit. There were so many weed patches throughout the greens! Little tufts of crab-grass like sprouts randomly in the greens made it very distressing to even try and roll one in. I understand the cost to play in this area has risen no matter what course you play but how consistently busy this place is, it would allow funds to invest into the quality of the greens. Just constantly disappointed. Obviously I’m biased because of past play (I’m talking 8+ years ago) when I enjoyed the challenge of this course to now just be scratching my head trying to justify the money/time spent.

We played here about a month ago and the rough was thick. Hoping that they would have addressed this we replayed it today, and the rough was WORSE than last month. Hit one into it and went to where the ball landed and we could not even see it, played bright green ball. This USED to be a nice course to play but over the past couple of years it has gotten pretty bad. They were also punching greens and failed to even mention it when we payed for our round, guess the next time we decide to play here we will call to see if their mowers cut the rough. They should offer a free sleeve of balls because you're apt to lose some

My buddies and I usually love playing here but lately it’s been rough. The fairways are muddy, the rough is wildly inconsistent and has large patches of wet sticky cabbage. We had a hard time keeping up pace of play because we were constantly loosing balls in the rough a yard or two off the fairway. The greens were awful as well with patches and holes where the fringe should be. For the price this is not what I expect. Also the burritos got small.

Played this course last month and this round was the complete opposite of the last review. Still has a couple of greens in need of repair but the fairways were greener, however the rough looked like we were playing Oakhill in the Open, some areas were extremely thick. Hit a couple in the rough that were difficult to find, ended up stopping to look for one of our balls. Went to use the restroom and 3 of the 4 toilets looked like the homeless paid a visit, out of toilet paper in the one usable one. For us playing an early morning round it looks like the cleaning crew took the day off, mentioned the conditions to the worker and he really didn't seem to care

I like this course. Staff is friendly.

Course condition was not bad. Good for price.

Railroad near by back nine and sometimes noise.

But good price and I don't complain.

Course was nice, room to miss off the tees but your short irons gotta be on point, small greens, nonetheless I was pleased with the course…

I haven’t played this course in years. It wasn’t any different. Many dry spots in the fairways with a number of soggy spots in the middle. The greens rolled true but we’re slow and tacky. Needed to be cut.. unfortunately we I didn’t play the back nine as my cart partner injured himself. I won’t play on Tuesday again as it is men’s club day and really slowed the pace. Not likely to play here again.

I was surprised that the course was in decent condition. Last played here in January and it was in much better condition this round. When we played in January the greens were so so and the fairways were horrible, this time however the greens were for the most part in good shape and the fairways were like night and day

I booked a tee time at this course, I showed up 20 minutes earlier and the Marshall was extremely rude to me and my gf even after us saying good morning first. He told us that he didn’t have a cart available and began to give me attitude like if it was my fault that they are not staffed with golf carts to the volume of tee times they are selling. He then gave me more attitude and said that I need to go and get a refund because he didn’t have a cart available for us and took all his anger and frustration out on us for no good reason, espionage when we had already paid our green fees. I definitely would not recommend going to this course at all.
