Picture perfect day at Spanos Photo submitted by Tem23powtfgj on 07/06/2013
Enjoyed the course, definitely recommend it!
Played the Reserve at Spanos Park for the first time yesterday. It was a little windy, but the course condition was good. Greens were rolling true and provided a challenge. Fairway condition was good as well, and tee boxes were in good shape.
I'm from Southern California and played this course for the first time yesterday, I would definitely play again.
This course has a little bit of everything.
First time playing this course. Fairways were in great shape. Greens had been sanded a while back but were still fast and pretty true. Give them another week and they will probably be like glass. This course had a little bit of everything, waste areas, water, a lot of sand traps down the middle, you wanted to place your shots to set yourself up for your shots into the green. A couple of holes we were not quite sure where to hit, we lucked out and did the right thing, we know for next time. The only things that were lacking were yardage markers. The only ones we saw were 150 in so we had to find sprinkler heads to tell us how far out we were, will bring my yardage device next time. Other than that I loved the course and will play it again. Didn't get pushed, wasn't too crowded and a foursome let us go through, like us they were there to enjoy the game and the course.
great day
course played real well but some greens with light sand. no real problem though. pace of play was very good.
Very nice conditions even with part of greens being punched
Would certainly come back. Excellent conditions well maintained.
Pristine! Oh, and LOTS of water!
This was quite a find down in Stockton, CA. Just a mile or so off I-5. This is certainly one of the most well kept courses I have played (and certainly for the price point - $38 on GolfNow). Well designed with water features playing into 12 of the holes - Yes! 12!! ... so bring a few extra balls. The facility is amazing though - natural turf range, great pro shop, good carts! the front 9 plays to the bomber in all of us. No real dog legs to speak of, just try to drive over the fairway bunkers on the super long fairways - and avoid the water! The back 9 has some dog legs that if you aren't playing with people familiar with the course will leave you scratching your head (esp. #10). The one issue slight issue I noticed were the ultra fast greens - I shot a little higher for the round as I had a fair share of 3 putts - even the lightest of taps could put you 5-6 feet past the hole , making a hack out of the most seasoned pros.
Also, don't be alarmed should you see the resident coyote chasing mr. jack rabbit through the sand traps!
Worth a shot at the usual $60/round - great deal at the $38!!
Happy Parring!
Great course for the value and conditions were nice
Despite aerated greens, course was in excellent condition.
course has potential
This course has a great layout with some great views of mount Diablo and surrounding hills. Greens are firm and fast with true rolls. The day I played they had punched half of all greens so the flag half was getting pretty beat. Once greens heal watch out. Best public course around these parts
Very good golf course at an excellent price.
The Reserve is a very good value, with good conditioning and services. My only issue had to do with pace of play. The round was 5 1/2 hours, and should have been managed better by the golf staff. I would play this course again, but not if a tournament is schedule for the same day.
Best course in San Joaquin and has great value!
Easy to find off the 5 freeway, beautiful clubhouse, attentive staff, best driving range/practice facility available in Stockton (including the country clubs), and best overall course value. $19 to ride early bird special for back nine and $25 twilight to ride in the afternoons for 18 holes. WOW. This place is gorgeous....I've played in most if not all the courses in San Joaquin, and this is miles ahead of the competition.
Great Staff and course
To start off at check in being told they have a better rate for me than what I booked at, to the course being in fabulous shape, to the after round drinks and friendliness of staff and patrons, well, need I say more?
Nice course and great staff
A very nice course for the $.Wide fairways and no hills so easy to walk.Late afternoon wind can make it more challenging. One bad side!Players are not fixing their ball marks on the green and that is very frustrating and sad.
TAKE THE TIME TO FIX YOUR BALL MARKS AND 1 MORE ON EVERY GREEN,DONT BE LAZY!
Best deal in the Valley
For the golfnow price or e-club specials, you won't find a better deal for a great golf course. Always in great condition, rarely has slow play, and very challenging.
