Bristow Manor Golf Club

The course is long and is a good test of golf. It is very well maintained.

Overall course in good shape and staff very friendly only issue were bunkers in terrible condition majority have little to no sand and unplayable. That being said a good time was had by all and I definitely will play again

This was my second time playing Bristow Manor and the course was in really great shape with the exception of the bunkers (more on that later). Greens were rolling extremely true, and fairways were fluffy. The rough is fairly long and extremely penal - the zoysia grass really grabs the club head so hitting fairways is a must.

The bunkers (with the exception of the 9th hole) were on par with some of the worst munis I have played. Thick, clay like mud, very little “sand” in the bunkers and so getting the ball onto the green was nearly impossible as the mud just grabbed the club with a normal splash shot. Sand was pristine in the 9th hole green side bunkers, but at this price all of the bunkers should be like that.

Greens were a bit of an odd mix of spongy but also very unreceptive. Any greenside shot refused to spin and even short iron/wedge approaches were rolling out 10-15ft regardless of trajectory or spin.

Pace wasn’t great - we were stuck behind a slow 2 ball and another very slow four ball. As a two ball we logged 4hrs which is pretty brutal for mid- week.

It’s an interesting course, and a great test of golf, but I find the constant target golf off the tee a bit tiresome from a hole design perspective. It’s fun for a few holes, but there are other more interesting designs I would rather return to (Stonewall, Pohick Bay, UMD).

Please fix the bunker situation!

The course is in excellent shape- greens and fairways were a 10!! This course is always in good shape and compared to some others in the area this is great BANG for your buck. also its nice to hit of grass driving range vs the matts!!

You should play here if you enjoy sitting behind 4 groups on one hole. Pace of play was unlike any other, staff couldn’t push through a group of 6 on a Sunday at 3pm. Great course conditions but it doesn’t make up for the pace of play. Don’t know why there was a group of 6 anyway, not hard to staff a starter that knows how to keep it going.

I showed up to the course without my proper shorts. When I asked if I needed to buy shorts or was I fine with my workout shorts The Nice Man and manager said it was ok. This is the example of the kind staff and why you should play this course. Pace of play was excellent and the course is challenging and fun for any level of golfer. But I recommended bringing your proper golf attire!

My group plays Bristow Manor approximately once a month and it continues to elevate its overall conditions. The greens, fairways and rough are all easily the equivalent or better than most highly rated private clubs. We play most all public courses in Northern Virginia and Bristow remains at the top of our list, so we return here much more than other options because it is hard to go to others with the excellent conditions here. It is a great layout with a mix of several tough holes and mostly moderate difficulty. The staff is friendly, helpful and very engaging; also, we always have lunch and there are both reasonable and a good variety of options.

Have played here for many years. Fairways and greens today were the best I've ever seen them.

Choose the right tee to play. It is very important to put your ball on the fairway. Otherwise it is very hard to find your ball in the rough and you will get punished. Lost a few balls in the rough. Do not like the gas powered cart! It’s so noisy! So annoying!

The courses always was in good condition although this time the pace of play was extra slow. Think my biggest pain point was the maintenance crew who was taking care of the course rolled over our golf balls and mowed them down. Understand that everybody’s in a rush to do their job but golf balls aren’t cheap and just rolling over them and throwing your hands up to say oops I didn’t know your ball was there when we were walking up to hit them doesn’t seem to suffice. Huge disappointment in that regard.
