Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Legends
About
The Legends Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club has been ranked before as one of the toughest golf courses in North America and the club boasts that it is the toughest in Canada. Lionhead Golf & Country Club also offers another, less demanding 18-hole course that is equally entertaining, the Masters. Legends features numerous challenges including vast lakes, cavernous sand bunkers, and tall fescue. The layout winds through a rugged portion of the Credit River Valley with steeply rolling terrain and wooded ravines, providing the golf course with elevated, undulating greens. The eighth is a notable hole, both for its beautiful scenery and its difficulty level. It is a long par 3 over a pond filled with tall bulrushes.

Fantastic
Great course, great food, great staff. The facilities are amazing, fast greens open fairways the golfing at Lionhead would be attractive to all levels. Legends proves to be challenging but forgiving. Masters....well that says it all. Novice golfers should bring lots of extra balls.
Interesting and Challenging
We played the blue tee total around 6600 yards. The course is interesting and some holes are fully protected by sand bunkers near the green. Need to hit almost everything right to get a descent score.
Lionhead has not changed...but I can't the same for the player..
Years ago I used to play a lot at Lionhead. Went there yesterday and everything was still good except the quality of the people who played there. It was a 5 hour 15 min round.
The group in front of us were total beginners, we waited for them at every holes. On one par-3 hole, we witnessed a player swung and missed the ball 3 times on the tee and the fourth one went to the wasteland in front of it. She continued on with the game from the other side and finished the hole possibly shot a 10. No marshal to speed up the pace of these people who probably should not have played the Legend.
On the 10th hole, a foursome suddenly appeared in front of us and said they went for a bite and now rejoining the game. Are you kidding me...? A already slow game now turned into a VERY slow game. We were surprised there was no marshal nor policy that govern this ?
Other minor nuisances include the beverage cart drove pass us while we were swinging. The twosome behind us joined us every hole by driving their cart to our tee boxes....
The quality of the players has diminished to that of a municipal course. Sad.
Other than that, the course was in good shape, the greens were fast enough but un-repaired divots were all over them. Again, it's the quality of the players. The rough were very playable, the sand however were hit & missed. Some of the traps were harden to a point that the wedges bounced off the sand. But overall it was still in a good shape. The club house is still beautiful and the service was prompt and efficient. Sad to see the courtesy pick up from the parking lot was missing. But for $80, I am not complaining. But the one thing I really wish was there should be marshals on course to keep the pace of the play in check.

Masters
Best condition I've played in this year.
And ever at this course. Probably played now for the 5th time over the last 10 years. A real treat!
Lionshead legends
U goofballs who think u have game probably should play from the whites which is 6200 yd or blue white combos pace of play is terrible in the evening because of this
tough
this course is very difficult, mainly, if you have never played it before. the greens are very fast and run true. the only green in bad condition is #15, balls marks are plenty and not repaired. overall, very happy with the course.
Legends
Course was in excellent condition and very enjoyable round of golf once again.
tricky
Nice course, good facilities and friendly staff. A very tuff track for average player. Masters better suited for the weekend player. Overall a very good course in good shape.......bring your A game if playing legends.
Tough But Fun
Practice your bunker work before taking on the Legends course. A tough course that rewards accuracy and penalizes any lapse in concentration.
Looking forward to taking the challenge again this season.
One of the top 5 courses in Ontario
Every golfer should play here at least once, but more the better.
Nice course
First time on this course and it was very nice. I would definitely go again.
What a gem!
Spend the extra $$$, its worth it. Bring your sand wedge!
Lionhead legends
I played the legends course yesterday for the first time read the reviews online on trip advisor and I would have to disagree with almost all of them the service was fantastic the staff was amazing the pacce of the golf was excellent and the course was outstanding hearing about Lionhead and playing it for the first time I highly recommend it I don't understand the reviews on trip advisor no joke it was awesome
Excellent Business Golf Destination
I needed to find a course suitable for business golf with 3 business associates. Great deal was available on the Legends course so I booked it. Have not played here in over 20 years. Thought it might be dated and a problem with tournaments. Not so! Clubhouse is newly refurbished with interesting Pro Shop, nice locker room, excellent restaurant called Iggys with beautiful outdoor patio as well as modern indoor bar, lots of TVs, great service and good pricing. Pace of play was great despite short interval between tee times. They had tournaments going but we never noticed. Course is quite difficult for average golfers but very beautiful and interesting. Everyone wanted to come back and try it again.
Overall Nice Course
Very good course overall.... if you've never been there, you would never know where to get your cart because the club house personnel didn't tell me until I asked... Drink cart needs more variety of hard alcohol, Not just Canadian Club and Johnny Walker Red, maybe some Rum?... Also, I would only play this course at the discounted rates on Golf Now, would never pay full price for a round here... but outside of that I was challenged by the course and it was a fun round... 8/10 is a solid course....
Very challenging
Great course, Fantastic condition. Sometimes over packed but overall very challenging.
Legends is legrndary
Great course. Challenging and forces you to play smart. Aggressive vs Conservative.
Lay up and take the extra stroke so you don'tose balls is key in the back nine.
Excellent design
Great condition very difficult.Might loose a few balls if missing fairways
The Course is what it says
On the first tee it says it is the hardest course in Canada and 3rd hardest public access course in north america. I wanted to play the back tees and feel the full force of this course but it was never mentioned that to get the scorecard with the black tees on it you had to go back to the proshop and ask for the card. We were a little late for our tee time and I did not feel like going back to the proshop to get the card. so I played the 6900 gold tees and had a good time. only wish they had a sign or something in the proshop to make my life easier. Otherwise great course.
