Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Legends
About
The Legends Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club has been ranked before as one of the toughest golf courses in North America and the club boasts that it is the toughest in Canada. Lionhead Golf & Country Club also offers another, less demanding 18-hole course that is equally entertaining, the Masters. Legends features numerous challenges including vast lakes, cavernous sand bunkers, and tall fescue. The layout winds through a rugged portion of the Credit River Valley with steeply rolling terrain and wooded ravines, providing the golf course with elevated, undulating greens. The eighth is a notable hole, both for its beautiful scenery and its difficulty level. It is a long par 3 over a pond filled with tall bulrushes.

Very Well Maintained
I always really enjoy this course. It can test your patience on many levels. Legends course is much more difficult than the masters. Overall great day out. Literally not one complaint about the course
bunkers need sand
bunkers on both courses are brutal ,barely any sand mostly dirt , even hit the liner once . Too bad rest of course is great . Tip just stay out .
Nice Course
Played before, and it was in decent condition. The greens were not as fast as I remember, but they were in reasonable shape.
Fantastic Course... but too slow
I have played this course numerous times, and is a fantastic, challenging course. The staff is very friendly & courteous and generally tee off are the right time.
This round was especially frustrating today as a group in front of us were essentially beginners. We normally waiting 10-15 mins at the tee boxes & almost that on other regular shots. Marshall spoke to them after the 5th hole, but did not improve all that much. Only until halfway through the back nine did they finally let us pass.
Was a loooog day at almost 6 hours for the round.
As tough a course you can find
This course is notoriously difficult. It's boasted as the highest slope rated public golf course in North America, and for good reason. My 3 playing partners all shot over 100 and perhaps the cool and windy conditions exaggerated the already difficult course. For example, no. 11 is a 418 yd par 4 into the usual prevailing westerly wind. It's also a narrow and tight fairway. In short, very tough, even for an accomplished golfer.
Lionhead GC
We teed off on time and the pace of pplay was 4 hours, 20 minutes. Conditions we very good for early in the season.
Test yourself!
Great club, the Legends Course is a very good test. It has high-end Greens, fairway, tee blocks and bunkers.
Back nine can beat you up if you spray the ball.
Will play is anytime, come to think about I'm playing it again Sat.
Terrible Course
You don't want to golf here... We started at 10:30 am and left after 15 holes because the course was so jammed. We were on pace for a 7 hour round and we are pretty decent golffers that would normally take 4- 4.5 hours typically. They spsce out the rounds every 9 minutes and do nothing to speed up play. Golf cart ladies have no coffee, no coke and missing a bunch of other staples that should be part of a mobile concession on a course. I refuse to play here again.
Challenging course but fair
I like the course but our 4some caught up with an earlier tournament we were not warned about. The one 4some at the end held us up dramatically and should have been told to pick up balls and walk. Marshalls were too polite to tournament players. Ridiculous to wait on every hole , We were more than 5 hours .
P. S. Too many questions in this review...it's too long . I quit !
Poor service
Going through a Reno in the clubhouse, and there's no service for anything, a sign that says service on the patio, with no one out there. Bar is under Reno and there's staff around but no one speaks to golfers or can direct them anywhere for service. Nike is paying for their Reno as that's all the equipment they sell now, and everything in your choice of 3 colours, black, white, or neon yellow. Poor choice Kaneff.
Excellent deal!
Friends and I found this amazing deal that was well worth it. We played the Legends 18 and enjoyed every hole. It was still early in the season and can't wait to see how the course shapes up in a couple weeks. Can't wait to try the Masters 18!
Disappointed in greens
This is probably one of my favorite and difficult course that I like playing. Having played here about 20 times in past few years, I am accustomed to the course always being well groomed, and the greens well, quite fast and almost immaculate. Unfortunately, this was the first time that I was disappointed. The greens were quite sandy; likely due to being on the tail end of being aerated.
I suggest calling the course prior to making a reservation, to inquire about condition of green/course, as there was no warning when booking my time slot.
First round of the year
Great day super value. Staff were great and helpful. Course in good shore for early season
Greens conditions under aerification are not ideal
Beautiful good course but the greens are under aerification and not ideal for putting. Fairway conditions are almost perfect.
Pace Of Play Failure!!
Mostly a great venue for the price.
Conditions were OK. Legends greens had a bit of winterkill.
Very dry. Good fairway roll.
Staff was good.
Hot dog was great!
Pace was 5-1/4 hours. Just brutal. Supposed to tee off at 11:06 AM; got started jus before noon.
Too many golfers on a tough golf course.
Great course conditions early in the season
First time playing the course. . Pace of play was slow, but it was still quite enjoyable. Was visiting from Edmonton and booked a tee time for myself and my cousin on GolfNow at a decent rate. Would play it again.
Good round.
the course has only been open for a week or so and was in good condition. played the round in under 4 hours on a sunny 24 degree day. This is usually a 5 hour round course so the day was a delight for the first round of the year.
bucket list for sure
awesome course most challenging course in Canada loved it
Legends Course
My first time playing the Legends Course. Hole number one is intimidating. Great course and still in good condition in late fall.
