The Legends Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club has been ranked before as one of the toughest golf courses in North America and the club boasts that it is the toughest in Canada. Lionhead Golf & Country Club also offers another, less demanding 18-hole course that is equally entertaining, the Masters. Legends features numerous challenges including vast lakes, cavernous sand bunkers, and tall fescue. The layout winds through a rugged portion of the Credit River Valley with steeply rolling terrain and wooded ravines, providing the golf course with elevated, undulating greens. The eighth is a notable hole, both for its beautiful scenery and its difficulty level. It is a long par 3 over a pond filled with tall bulrushes.

Great course, as long as you have a deal

Lionhead was a great course - the fairways were incredible, the greens quick and interesting. Pace was a little slow, and the course marshal took a bit of time to speed things up, but once he did, it was smooth sailing (f9 - 2.5 hrs, b9 - 2 hours). One complaint , and not about the course, is the general observation that just because you can afford to play Lionhead, doesn't mean you should. Both in terms of play and etiquette, there were far too many players who had no clue how to golf properly. Divots were not replaced, ball marks on greens not repaired - it was embarrassing. But the course itself was amazing.

Nice track as usual

Very challenging couse which is always in good shape even after the flood on the legends. Depending on your mood that day there are two courses, one tough and the other a bit easier but you can also play different tees makes thing alot easier depending on who you are playing with that day. I have played there quite often and never had a bad experience.

Top notch course and tough...superb layout.

This course was in tip top shape. Had a colleague from England visiting and he thought every hole should have been in a magazine because it was so pleasing to the eye from the Blue Tees. The course is very well designed and gives you opportunities to play safe for bogey golf, but if you want be aggressive, you better have game because everything is strategically placed. The course basically ate him alive but he really respected a top level Canadian styled course like this one. This course on a beautiful summer day and blue skies from the back tees teeters on spectacular. I got a good deal so, that was worth it. Much harder than the Masters course they have.

Good shape but expensive....

With so many excellent courses in the GTA, Iggy and his staff really need to rethink what they are charging golfers to play this course. Sorry......

The Legends Course: As advertised!

The course and facility were as advertised. The Legends course layout, from the blue tee box, did not disappoint. Every hole has its own nuance to keep you alert to where you wish to place your next shot. The greens were running fast. Sure the course is beat up by golfers not repairing their divots and the greens are becoming butchered by massive amounts of non-repaired ball marks. I made it my policy to repair 2 additional marks per green beyond my own. I did enjoy my time with this course. I just wish more golfers would treat it with more respect. Definitely play this course.

Golf

Played last 2 holes through sprinklers. Plenty of light out and a few groups still behind us. No need for those to be on yet and for us to have to run in and out to quickly hit our ball to avoid getting soaked.

great course, pace of play far too slow

In spite of many positives, mainly course design and course conditioning, with pace of play in the 5 hour range this spoils the occassion. This course should be restricted to players who can handle a tough course.

great set up and picturesque views

great value today being customer appreciation day. course was in great shape but the greens had many divots from people before not fixing them. If they had offers like this one today I would make the trip from St Catharines more often. I also made my first eagle on hole 15. With all the courses in the Niagara area , I would love to have a reason to golf Llionhead more often.

Challenging yet Enjoyable...

While I'm not sure it's amongst the toughest tests (I played from the Blue Tees), it's a challenging layout with quite a few holes that are pleasing to the eye. Given that I've played it for the first time, I would rank this higher in enjoyability and challenge than the Masters Course at Lionhead. With the right kind of deal, I will definitely play this course again.

Great course and conditions...

Only wish we could have stayed all day and played another 18. Course was in great shape, and being first on the greens following the grounds crew, they rolled immaculately and were pock-mark free. Very nice compared to your typical municipal course. Not quite sure how Kaneff affords the amount of grounds staff they have, I guess that is why regular green fees are >$100. For the golfnow rate, the course far exceeded expectations. It is difficult, but not unnecessarily penal.

A must play

From the moment you arrive in the parking lot you are greeted with friendly staff who help get you and your clubs to the clubhouse. As you stand over your ball setting up your first approach to green you'll know you're for a challenge. Legends is a tough course that makes you feel like you're really playing golf. When you shoot a good round it really feels good to conquer this course, but it will punish you on a bad day..

Challenging course providing a tough test with some excellent holes

Enjoyed playing the "Legends" for the first time having previuosly played only the "Masters" course. This course is much longer with some very difficult tee shots and approached to the greens.
Condition of the course was excellent and we enjoyed the experience very much.
