Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Legends

About
The Legends Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club has been ranked before as one of the toughest golf courses in North America and the club boasts that it is the toughest in Canada. Lionhead Golf & Country Club also offers another, less demanding 18-hole course that is equally entertaining, the Masters. Legends features numerous challenges including vast lakes, cavernous sand bunkers, and tall fescue. The layout winds through a rugged portion of the Credit River Valley with steeply rolling terrain and wooded ravines, providing the golf course with elevated, undulating greens. The eighth is a notable hole, both for its beautiful scenery and its difficulty level. It is a long par 3 over a pond filled with tall bulrushes.

This course will humble you
The course itself is absolutely beautiful but don't let that fool you...it is extremely difficult. The conditions were just about perfect with the exception of a couple of wet spots. I would highly recommend everyone plays the Legends course at least once as it really is course design at its finest. You will quite literally forget you are in the middle of highly populated suburb as the course is so scenic.
Thanks, yes it winds its way through the credit valley river and is stunning in some places. Lots of wildlife also.
Thanks
Was hosting colleagues up for NBA finals. Waited half an hour at the turn for food at lunch time as they had run out of prepared food. We were then rushed because we were out of sequence.
Will send to the chef and food and beverage manager!
Really slow play but very nice golf course
Course was packed and pace was very slow. Condition was good considering it rained heavily the day prior. Cart path only was the rule of the day which probably contributed to the slow pace in all fairness. The course is tough and likely many people struggling with the layout and lack of roll in the fairways. Overall was a pleasant experience, we were in no hurry and it was a beautiful day.
Thanks for being patient!
Great day. Played in 3:45. Course in decent condition even with this years horrible amount of rain. Great staff and cold beer
Thanks, it has been quite a season. Keeping the course somewhat playable has challenged the staff
Fabulous shape!!
Early in season so many places underwater
Conditions here were perfect!!
Awesome!
We will have to work on the pace of play!
LegendsBest challenge this summer
Through the generosity of a colleague I had the privilege of playing Lionhead in Mississauga this golf season. There are two courses and while I enjoyed the Masters, the Legend course was amazing. I hit a few drivers but this course required precision irons and course management. Carries and layups were staples and even though at times I had to drive up to know where I needed to go, pace of play afforded me that.
The courses are maintained by Peter Petrov and kudos to him for the immaculate fairways, bunkers and greens. Even the rough I couldn’t complain about-I had no business being in them. I played good golf –shot 81 and without question, Legends was my course challenge of the summer.
I didn’t like having to walk the distance to the range with my bag but other than that I had a fantastic experience.
Thanks again Peter Petrov; you do exceptional work.
Course Management Required
The Legend course requires course management on every hole to position ball on fairway to score well on well protected rolling greens. Long drives not required but ball placement for approach shot is key. The rough around some greens and off fairways is thick and deep. Better to take a penalty stroke than to hit out. Greens were rough in places and would have been smoother if rolled. Pace of play was very good considering all tee times were booked.
Thanks for the feedback! It is a challenging layout, small greens and tight fairways.
Not Worth the Price!
When we arrived at course we asked pro shop to evaluate our handicaps for course per our index, not a clue. Would be nice to have a chart for us to understand. Course was very wet, and don't think there was any rain for 24 hrs. Greens were terrible compared to other courses we played the next couple days and paid more to golf Legends.
We have had hot weather and I know that can be tough on greens, but like I said played other course and greens were much better. Probably not a choice in future.
Have heard the owner is a piece of work with his staff, maybe having trouble keeping good staff for grounds and it shows.
Oh well.
Thanks, yes it has been a tough season with the weather. Disease hit the course and our Superintendent has been working hard to fight and repair the fairways and greens with top dressing, overseeding, fertilizer and aerification.
Good challenge. Terrible pace.
Lionhead is good, challenging golf. Was shocked to see that a course of this caliber would allow a 5 person group to play on a weekend afternoon. Pace of play was absolutely brutal with no sign of a Marshall the entire day.
I know we definitely do not allow 5somes! Will see where our marshals were! Thanks for the feedback
Toughest course I’ve played in a long time
Legends is a tough course. You will need all your clubs to get around this track.
Thanks! We agree.
Average course. Very slow
Over 5 hours to play with only 1 person on the beverage cart covering 36 holes. For the price, the service was horrible and the round was slow. No Marshall in sight and overall would not go back.
We had Marshalls. We will have to find out where they were!! Thanks for the feedback.
2nd time Ive used GolfNow with no tee off at course
It’s now the 2nd time I’ve booked and had confirmation from golfnow and arrived at course with no tee off booked? The gentleman at the course had to call and get upset with someone at golfnow, he squeezed us in but not good looking on your website forsure!
We will investigate with Golfnow! Thanks
Challenging track
Always enjoy playing Legends, over the years the course condition has gradually gotten worse, was disappointed in the shape of the greens but pace of play and layout still made for a good round of golf.
Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks!
