About
The Heron Course is one of two 18-hole courses at Cardinal Lakes Golf Club. It is the club's newer championship layout, designed to complement the original course, the executive-length Sparrow. It is 6,765 yards from the back tees but it feels as though it is considerably longer since many holes play into the prevailing wind. The golf course combines elements of classic links, parkland, and Carolinian courses. The generous fairways are guarded by bunkers and the large, fast greens are gently contoured and surrounded by trees. Water is a prominent feature throughout, coming into play on all but four holes. The layout saved the most challenging for last with its signature 18th hole, a par 3 with a tricky island green.

Very good all-round course
Enjoyable layout, good conditions, and super staff. Highly recommended, won't be disappointed.
Awesome
I love that there is a practice range, the putting green is similar to the greens, the greens are fast, I love this course, blue and white markers are far enough apart to completely change the round. I’m a happy golfer

Great day and course was in excellent condition. Starter George was very knowledgeable and helpful. Good deal for the money.
Always in great shape
The course is in great shape , wish I had known that they had a member event as I was a single in a Hot Deal due to the other three golfers cancelling out. My only pet peeve with GolfNow VIP members and it is really starting to tick me off.. This has been ongoing this year , if you have no intention or may not want to play then don't book the Hot Deals , leave them for the golfers like myself that will actually show up. This is in no way intended for Cardinal Lakes as they run a great golf club and this is beyond their control. Golf Now wake up there are only a limited number of hot deals for these golf courses! I will be renewing my course membership next year and no more Golf Now.

great conditions although somewhat windy made it a challenge.
Best in the region
Only reason I gave the Pace of play 4/5 stars was because we were the 2nd group out Sunday morning and had to overtake the 1st group. I don't know what the pace of play is like later on in the day but we finished our round (twosome) in 2h45m.
Tree-lined course but no trees within the area of play meaning we didn't lose any balls.
Holes were challenging for a longer hitter like myself which required me to use less-than-driver on lots of Par5s. Reachable Par5s but would challenge you to make it a true Par5.
Can't say enough great things about this course!
Excellent fairways. Playing on them is like playing on a thick carpet. Excellent but fast greens.

Excellent condition super fast greens, well maintained . Never disappointed playing here as I always find it a true challenge.
Very interesting course
Very friendly staff and the course was not busy so we sailed through quickly.
Was very dry could have done with water.
Some holes it was hard to know where to hit to and there was nothing on the score card or at the tee box to help you out with that.
Once you have played it once you would be fine

Terrible groundskeeping
I knew there was trouble when this course came up so cheap but the rough was horrendous the dandelions were awful it's just looks ugly!

great mothers day Sunday ...the course was in very good shape, NICE to see potties on the course came in very handy for the Ladies ... ONLY issue i would say is no halfway house/ clubhouse after nine holes , for a snack or drink and NO beer cart on course ...
great day on the course only small complaint was no cart or half way to get something to eat or drink

Fairways and greens in great shape for early May.
Can only get better as weather gets warmer.
Friendly staff in pro shop and clubhouse.
Decent spring conditions
All in all, the course was pretty decent. Greens were outstanding for early season! Tees were fair at best, with alot of uneven teeing areas. Fairways were good. Nice mix of difficulty from hole to hole.
