Windy
I played this course a lot, conditions were fine for January. Greens were rolling nice and without official clubhouse just very few amenities, which hopefully will be corrected with the new clubhouse soon.
Not bad, but not great
This course is wide open and provides some water challenges, but for the most part, it's a 'grip it and rip it ' course. The day I played, the pace was slow and the group in front of me displayed no understanding of Ready Golf. The carts were pretty beat up, but the course was in decent shape. It would be interesting to see how it looks in the summer. I might give it another try later this year, but will keep my expectations low.
Good Course & Nice Value
I have played Battlefield quite often over the last couple of years, and it continues to have very good conditions, as well as a good value or affordability for a round of golf. One disappointing aspect is that they still have a temporary clubhouse and temporary (gravel) parking lot after all these years.
Much Improved
Firstly the off course amenities do not yet exist, so they shouldn't be dinged for that. Years back I played this course about a year after it opened. It was so bad I left after 9 holes. Having played this several times this year, The greens are hybrid greens, so typically they are fast and fairly hard to hold unless you come in steep. Many are raised so if you cant hold the green, you will be chipping back up or you may lose it in a hazard. Its winter here so the lies are generally tight. The course gets a fair amount of play in the afternoons, often times singles and doubles can run up on you. It is a wide open course mostly so wind is factor. I like the course though and mostly the staff is good and with a hot deal price, its a lot of golf for the money. Certainly recommend it. and vastly improved so good job there too
Beautiful Layout Marred by Slow Play
The course layout is second to none in Virginia.
The staff was friendly.
Keeping me from giving a higher rating is a noticeably slow play of some players who clearly lacked basic golf manners.
Specifically, a foursome ahead of me moved literally at a snail's pace and made me to wait after each shot.
They clearly noticed that I played alone and fast. But they never invited me to pass or made any effort to move less slow.
Of course, the scorecard handed by the club unequivocally states that a slow player(s) should yield to a fast player(s).
Nice Layout
For a course without a clubhouse they do a good job with making it a nice place to play…
Great Place
I had not played golf in many years. Everyone at the course was amazing and kind. The course is gorgeous and well kept. Definitely will be returning
No club house
The #1 and the biggest disappointment for this course is no club house, no food and no restrooms. The course it self is very fun to play.
Hidden gem
When driving up to the course it doesn’t look like much. You won’t find a club house, rather a commercial trailer for the office. Carts are a little rough but when it comes to the course , it is well cared for. Bring your “A” game to this one!
Great Course
Only the second time here and just amazed at the great condition of the course. Also one of the best value for the money. Will be back
