The Golf Club at Mattaponi Springs

Just finished the front 9 when the sky opened up and it started pouring sideways. Went into the clubhouse to ask for a raincheck and they said they “don’t do rain checks. 60 people were standing in there soaked. Worst part was their wifi was out so I couldn’t order or pay for my lunch. I was too hungry so I left and lost money. Great course but terrible staff and policies.

Some club amenities (water mainly) were knocked out due to a storm but staff worked hard to keep the course open. Overall condition was very good. There were a few small bare spots on a couple of greens but mostly out by the fringe and didn’t hurt our putting. Layout is tricky and challenging but there are gettable holes. Not a fan of the few blind shots but that happens on a mountain course. Worth the drive if you are looking for something different and fun.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Excellent and challenging layout that was in excellent condition.

Played immediately after a substantial downpour. Course drained amazingly well. Greens were a bit soft but had no standing water. Putts still rolled well. Some damp spots in the fairways. Just a little water collected in front of the green on 15. The staff were friendly and professional.

Very challenging course. Great conditions tee to green. Very good practice area. Rolling fairways, sloped dog legs, up hill tee shots, a split fairway. I can't wait to play Mattaponi again. Very nice lady at check in. Met Andrew and a gentleman giving lessons who was very nice.

My son and I played Mattaponi Springs on Saturday, June 28th. It was very hot day. We played at 11:21 and were paired up with a wonderful single of similar skill as us. Other than the heat the day, the course and the fellowship was A+. Course conditions were superb. The elevation changes really set Mattaponi apart from many other courses in south central Va. The rough was fair but a ball in the woods was very punishing as the undergrowth is in full force. I could not recommend this course enough!

Little off the beaten pad but sure glad I made the trip. Scouting courses for when my buddies come for a visit from Texas. Definitely on the short list⛳️😊👊🏽

Course is a little off the beaten path, great design well taken care of, I'm not saying it's inexpensive but I don't think there's a course better at this price range. I would compare it to Potomac shores golf club $30 cheaper. Similar price range as Pendleton, I personally just enjoy it more.

I love coming to this track. From the range to the clubhouse it feels like a country club. Even though I'm not a member you feel like one and the staff treats you like one.

Mattaponi Springs is one of the best courses I have ever experienced. The condition of the course was on a top tier level. Staff were very helpful and inviting. The only complaint that I have about the course is that I don’t live closer, but clearly that’s a me problem…. Take the time to experience this course, you won’t regret it….

Stunning course. Lots of hazards but relatively friendly for average golfers. Can’t wait to get back here

Played 18 with my son for his birthday and the fairways and tee boxes were in decent shape. However, many of the greens had major dry/dirt patches and the water hazards were stagnant puddles so the bugs/gnats were far worse than I’ve seen in VA anywhere. Probably won’t go back.

The course has a great layout and friendly staff but the course was in poor shape and condition.
