The Golf Club at Mattaponi Springs

This is definitely our new go to course. It’s within an hour of our home and is worth every penny!

The course is very challenging and has a super layout. It keeps you focused and the conditions were great. The staff goes above and beyond and our group had a fantastic experience staying and playing there.

Drove 1h35m to play. Course is in great shape. Played 18 holes in 2h40m. Greens are great but hope it’s a bit faster. Worth a drive and will come back to play again.

There aren't many bells and whistles, but the golf is excellent, and we had a ton of fun. We didn't have a beverage cart service, but we made do. The greens and fairways were in great shape, and the layout is fun, with a good mix of longer holes and shorter ones. The 213-yard par 3 was a bit much.

I played at Mattaponi Springs for the first time today. It was a beautiful and challenging course. I live in Richmond where many of the courses are squeezed into a neighborhood or a small plot of land. It was refreshing to play on a course that is spread out and cut well. Each hole felt fully thought out featuring beautiful approaches, rolling slopes, and stunning water features. It was raining today so I look forward to playing again on a dry day but even with the wet conditions it was clear that the course was maintained very well. I think Mattaponi Springs will be my regular course going forward.

Mattaponi Springs GC is a great layout of hills, marshlands, water hazards, and greens that are tricky. You better be able to make perfectly placed shots and your green-reading skills need to be pretty sharp also. Still, the course is forgiving, to a degree, if you put the ball in the right place and stay out of the rough. Mattaponi was in great condition and getting better. Always fun to play, even if it beats you up a little bit.

The course was beautiful as well as the course, however the greens could use a lot of TLC. We played at 10:40 on Sunday with beautiful weather and no wind. There was debris on the greens like they hadn't been blown off in the morning. Also bumpy areas and bald spots on most of the greens. A great course but would recommend finding a Hot Deal to avoid the full price IMO.

Haven't played here in about 6 years. It is just as I remember it. Greens are varied, some easy going and others make you place your ball or it is a 3 putt. It will keep you honest. A number of blind shots, reminds me of Mike Stranz's genius. Food is excellent, clubhouse, the whole experience is what I remembered it to be. Everyone is super nice, accommodating, and the vibe is spot on,
