SaddleBrooke Ranch Golf Club

About
Located in the North Tucson area, SaddleBrook Ranch Golf Club borders the Santa Catalina Mountains. The course meanders through the high Sonoran desert, incorporating natural washes into the design and providing stunning mountain views from almost every hole. Abundant desert flora and fauna further enhance the rugged, gently rolling terrain. The golf course offers a mix of challenging holes and player-friendly features, resulting in a layout with several interesting risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to low and high handicappers equally. The player-friendly fairways are generous, allowing beginners to feel comfortable with ample room off the tees and rewarding thoughtful play. There are also carefully placed mounds, hollows, and bunkers along the large, receptive greens that provide opportunities to recover an errant shot. The golf course is made even more versatile with five different sets of tees.

Course conditions
The course layout is so nice, but the fairways should have better grass ,should be over seeded, chipping around the greens would have better lies if you had some grass. Bunkers are like concrete. I’m not a member but if I was I would be disappointed.
Poorly manicured
This course use to be one of my favorite courses to play. But in the last few years has gone down hill to me. The fairways , ruff and around the greens are scalped. Seems like you are always hitting off of hard pan and very tight lie"s. Greens are fast, which is not a bad thing, but are hard and not very receptive. A lot of times, you don"t even leave a divot. It seems every time I've gone to play or just use their driving range for practice, they have you hitting off of mats. My opinion is that the management of the course and course conditions are being handle very poorly.
Wonderful Views
This is a well-tended course with great mountain backdrops. There are some quirky holes where our familiarity with the course helped a lot. Places where desert role can change your club distances and create great tee shots or balls lost in cacti filled washouts. Greens are fast & created for beaks. Not sure there is a single “flat” green on the course. Clubhouse staff were helpful. Only downside is a very small driving range & cramped chipping/bunker practice area. We will definitely golf SaddleBrooke Ranch again.
Dry and hard
Course has no grass under your ball in the fairway. Greens below average.
Grumpy
No ball washers at the holes. No refreshment cart services. No map of the course on the cart.
No water hazards that were ever seen as possible problem.
Overall the course is super forgiving.
But the lack of basics noted above I won’t be playing this course again.
Ed Robson would be ashamed!
Worth your time to play
Beautiful golf course in good condition with great views and interesting holes. You will not be disappointed. Worth the drive up to the Saddlebrooke area. Staff very friendly.
Great Experience
Love this course, well maintained and good food and drink with fair prices. Not overseeded but fairways were still impressive, greens in great condition. Awsome views of surrounding mountains. Rest rooms were clean and well supplied.
For the love of golf...
Soggy sand traps from overnight rain, constant wind and temps in the mid-40s made for a challenging round. Wishing the carts had seat-warmers, but still better than a day at the office.
Never again
If I could give 0 stars I would. The course is in typical decent condition. I brought my 10 year old daughter because she is beginning to play and loves coming out with me to play. My 8 year old also joined as I am a single father and she enjoys watching her sister and I play. The staff and rangers were absolutely horrible and harassed us on multiple occasions. The first time, on the 10th hole I was asked if I told the desk that I had spectators. I said no, I paid for 2 rounds and my oldest was playing. He continued to say how I had spectators and I had to reiterate that I paid for 2 rounds and that my oldest was playing. He told me to never do it again. Then on the 17th a different ranger pulled up and started talking about spectators and I told him that I've already had this conversation with a different ranger and that I paid for a twosome. He said something about having 3 people in a cart and that kids can't drive a cart. I explained that I am a single father and asked him what he thinks I should do to which he had zero answer.
I did have my older daughter drive the cart a couple of times in the interest of pace of play since everyone on the back 9 had to wait on every tee shot, including us. Our pace of play was never an issue because every tee we pulled up to, the group in front of us was still on the tee box. Maybe the rangers should tell 30+ handicappers not to hit off the tips like the group ahead of us instead of harassing a single dad trying to enjoy a day of golf with his daughters.
Will return!
I love this course as it is about perfect for my skill level. The people in the area are happy and the atmosphere welcoming. We'll return for more golf in the future.
