SaddleBrooke Ranch Golf Club
About
Located in the North Tucson area, SaddleBrook Ranch Golf Club borders the Santa Catalina Mountains. The course meanders through the high Sonoran desert, incorporating natural washes into the design and providing stunning mountain views from almost every hole. Abundant desert flora and fauna further enhance the rugged, gently rolling terrain. The golf course offers a mix of challenging holes and player-friendly features, resulting in a layout with several interesting risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to low and high handicappers equally. The player-friendly fairways are generous, allowing beginners to feel comfortable with ample room off the tees and rewarding thoughtful play. There are also carefully placed mounds, hollows, and bunkers along the large, receptive greens that provide opportunities to recover an errant shot. The golf course is made even more versatile with five different sets of tees.

Tees and fairways were good but the greens and aprons need improvement. A bit disappointing after the course had been closed for two weeks.
Nice Course
The overall condition of the course was good, and the greens were especially good. Not sure why, but the par 5 10th is still playing as a par 3. The fairways and tee boxes look excellent, but it's still not open.
COURSE IS IN CRAPPY SHAPE, ESPECIALLY THE GREENS.
THISCOURSE NEEDS A LOT OF WORK.
Love this course
Very fun course. Greens are good tee to green in good shape. Will be back soon!
Getting back in shape!
Still got a few par 4s cart path only and one par 5 closed. However they’re working hard and fairways and greens are coming back nice. A pleasure to hit off the grass again.
Fantastic Course!
Had a great time! Beautiful course, great staff. I can’t wait to go and play here again and again! Million dollar views from several holes.
Heads up!!
No course alert on Golf Now! There was one hole closed, one par five reduced to a par three, and a lot of work going on. Appreciate the fact there working hard to get some holes back in shape. Overall pretty good conditions on the rest of the course. We always enjoy playing there but would expect more honesty on the website about course conditions and maybe a little lower pricing?
Unacceptable
My fellow friends and I were met by a man named Gary S. who works out of the pro shop here at Saddlebrook complaining how one of us was too close to the green on hole 9. We apologized and were getting ready to go on our way when we looked at me and proceeded to tell me “watch it” with attitude and saying as if he was treating me and my friends who were with me. Then this shady man continues to follow behind my friends and I making us feel very uncomfortable and the golfing trip unenjoyable, then at whole 13 there is a water and bathroom station that we stopped at because we needed water and wanted to use the restroom and here comes Gary S. right behind us, he begins to complain at us that we can not stop here until we are done playing hole 13 and 14. Please keep in mind it was 100+ degrees outside that day and we were low on water but Gary was complaining about us trying to stay hydrated from this heat. He ended up leaving us alone but that wasn’t all of it, we are met on our way to hole 16 and lo and behold Gary was there waiting for us yet again and then began to question us as in give me your name and number, he had the check in sheet and saying there was a “mistake” that was made even though he was the one who checked us in and gave us a cart number and everything, he continued to follow us to the next hole and waited for us the beginning. He proceeded to get a phone call and left but me and my friends believed that he only left because of the phone call and would have stay if he hadn’t. I go to this course with my father all the time and I have the best memories at that course but the way my friends and I were being harassed by this man named Gary S. We will not tolerate these actions to anyone of us and we will no longer be giving our business to them due to the fact that we were uncomfortable, we felt like we couldn’t enjoy the course, how he threatened myself as well as my friends, and how we were harassed by this man all for nothing and kept complaining at us about everything we did and that’s including getting water, that’s right GETTING WATER. Gary S. should either get written up or fired for harassment of minors and threatening minors as well. As long as he is there we will no longer come to this course.
The fairways are stressed and management is trying to improve.
As others have noted the fairways are thin in many spots. It is not due to lack of irrigation water or attention by the greens keeper. The management has replaced a lot of areas with new sod and has plans for additional repairs. Currently hole 7 is closed for the new sod to root and get ready for play. No. 10, a par 5, in under construction for new sod and has been converted to a par 3. Expect to find an additional hole or two that are "cart path only" giving the fairways a break. The greens are actually in good condition. The sod was replaced on the putting green and has been closed for months but will open soon. The chipping area is under construction and closed and will open soon. On Wednesday only one of the nines will be open to allow for additional repairs that are required to deal with the summer heat. I don't know why GoffNow does not publish this information. Covid 19 has caused restriction in the nearby Ranch House Grill & Brewery. As a side note, each player will probably have the option of his (or her) own cart - yes four carts per hole -- for regular players, this usually improves pace of play to 3 hours or so. This additional cart traffic has NOT helped the condition of the fairways. II would suggest "lift, clean & place (on grass or dry area)" for the bad areas (and don't tell the USGA) and enjoy the open views of the golf course and have fun. It is generally 3 - 5 degrees cooler up at the higher elevation Ranch than it is down the hill in Tucson but still bring your container for drinking water -- Covid 19 has closed some of the water fill stations on the front nine.
Good course overall.
The course is fairly interesting to play and is in pretty good condition, with the exception of #7, which is closed, and #10, a par 5, which is currently played as a par 3. Plenty of grass on most fairways and roughs, and greens are good.
This course is trashed...
I have been playing this course for nearly 14 years and have never seen it in such poor condition. Evidently the the staff feels no need to water the course which is just sad given the lack of rainfall we have experienced. It is dried out, most fairways have large brown patches and what little grass there is very thin and scalped. The practice putting green has been closed for months and now the chipping green/alternate putting green {though very small} is also closed
The greens were punched a few weeks ago and they are as slow and rough as I have ever seen them. The 7th hole is simply closed for no apparent reason. The par 5 tenth is now a 100 yard par three to a green that is atrocious. The first 400 yards of 10 are chewed up and muddy and don't look to be even remotely playable for the foreseeable future.
None of these conditions were referenced anywhere on the Golf Now site and had I any clue that the course was this bad I would never have booked my round. I won't be back until they decide to make it a playable course once again as it used to be one of my favorites.
Golf Now, you asked but I have to wonder if you will post my honest review as that had not been your practice in the past. I hope you will as your clientele need to be able to trust you for honest information about course conditions. We'll see...
