SaddleBrooke Ranch Golf Club
About
Located in the North Tucson area, SaddleBrook Ranch Golf Club borders the Santa Catalina Mountains. The course meanders through the high Sonoran desert, incorporating natural washes into the design and providing stunning mountain views from almost every hole. Abundant desert flora and fauna further enhance the rugged, gently rolling terrain. The golf course offers a mix of challenging holes and player-friendly features, resulting in a layout with several interesting risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to low and high handicappers equally. The player-friendly fairways are generous, allowing beginners to feel comfortable with ample room off the tees and rewarding thoughtful play. There are also carefully placed mounds, hollows, and bunkers along the large, receptive greens that provide opportunities to recover an errant shot. The golf course is made even more versatile with five different sets of tees.

First Time, Last Time
I was looking forward to playing my scheduled time at Saddlebrooke Ranch for the first time. I had heard lots of great things about the course and it's friendly players and staff as it's a golf community. I was lied to. I knew that booking a solo play I'd likely be grouped in with others. The "others" I was grouped into were very disrespectful and told me they already had a foursome and played anyways. When I asked at the next hole after assuming they were the group in front of me if they were the 1120, they said yes but play ahead of us because we are full. There was a group ahead already and the group after my original time was extremely pushy about me playing with my correct tee time group despite what I told them. I went back to the proshop to let the staff know about this issue since my golf time was obviously not important to players who added additional players on and I felt this was extremely unfair to a paying guest. At the proshop, I was not offered any sort of apologies or alternatives and had to settle for a refund, minus my range bucket fee because I had already used that to prepare for my tee time. For a game that has a culture of upstanding compassion and sportsmanship, this course's staff and players I encountered held neither of those factors. I would never recommend this to anyone not in a group since you are clearly just a source of revenue and not valued as a potential returning guest.
Covid play
Course in good shape for this time of year. Each player had to have own cart. You kind of lose that feeling of playing as a group of friends. Not sure we need to go to these lengths. Too much in my opinion.
All in all, being on the golf course overcame the covid restrictions. Had fun and played well
Enjoyable round
Despite Covid19 restrictions we had a good time. The one negative was that there was no water or any other liquid available. It was a cool day, so not too much of a problem. However, when it's 100 + that could be an issue. That fact should be prominently displayed on both Golfnow and the course website.
Everything But Water
Overall course is good; moderately difficult; however, in Arizona hot/dry conditions require hydration....at the clubhouse was a water source but no cups; on the course there was no provision for water. by the end of the round, felt weak and dehydrated. The Ranch MUST address this ASAP.....the COVID issue is no excuse for not having an accommodation for water.
Excellent condition
From tee to green, course is green, moist and a pleasure to play on. One of the better courses around Oro Valley while others go through problems with greens or rebuilds of same.
great course for the value
Love playing this course for my retirement relaxing pace. Great value for the money, lay out is fair but has it's challenging holes.
Great deal for the money !!!!!!
This is a great course for seniors because it is easy to navigate, meaning that there are no big surprises on the course. You can see the problems ahead of you. The course is in very good condition with the best sand traps, in town. Greens and fairways are good and it is playable in 4 hours or less.. It is a great deal for the money !!!!!!
Decent course - poor staff
Played front 9 with a very nice couple Tom and Norma from Kansas City. Course was in good shape. Had a call to my girlfriend's mother had a medical issue so had to stop after 10 holes. Asked the guy behind the plexiglass for a 9 hole rain check he said no..we dont do that here.
Great course
Challenging enough. Same yardage as another difficult course I've played quite often in Tucson. Staff was pleasant and I enjoyed the other 3 players.
A decent course for the price
The clubhouse was understandably shut and the toilets as well. They are taking many necessary precautions to avoid spreading illness.
I felt the course was a rather uninteresting layout, with only one memorable hole (#10). The greens were in great shape, but the fairways were rather thin. The traps were excellent, unlike some I’ve played recently in Tucson.
There just aren’t many challenges on this course. Amber that’s on purpose, to make it more playable and enjoyable for the local residents. If so, that’s a good thing. But for an “outsider”, I just found it pretty easy.
I would go back, if I got another great price on golf now. Otherwise, I would look elsewhere.
Latest conditions
Course is in very good shape. Covid19 restrictions in place. No cart girl or amenities at the moment They need to set the hole restricters a little lower there were a few that the ball would not stay in the hole from any distance.
Checking in is done at a window at the back, takes a little longer than normal so plan for it. Bunkers have excellent sand, fairways are very good as are the greens, a good value for the money. In these trying times its good to be out in the sun paying golf on a fun course.
Nice experience
Good greens (a bit firm) bunkers and fairways nicely maintained. Like the layout (pick your proper tees).
Love this course
Play this course 4-5 times a year, why not more, live 30 plus miles away. Anyway shot 86 greens are in great condition.
