About
The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

Good course
So Firewheel has 3 courses to choose from.
I’ve play the olds and the lakes but not the bridges(yet).
I really enjoyed the lakes over the olds course, the hole layout was great, as well as the overall experience of the round.
Will definitely play the Lakes again.
Lakes Course
The Lakes course was amazing an incredibly laid out. The staff was friendly and made the experience easy and enjoyable. The range could use some work but was good for a warm-up. Cart 88 is probably the slowest cart I've ever had in my life lol, I don't know what was wrong with it but it barely made it up the hills and slopes. Other than that this place is amazing.
Water
It’s called the Lakes for a reason. One of those courses that requires placed shots. Will be back. In great conditions.
Better than most in the Dallas area
The Lakes course is in very good condition, greens also very good. Not to much sign of winter kill like many of the courses in the Dallas area.
Wide open for round for golf
Friendly staff.

Lakes course at Firewheel golf park
Had a nice experience playing golf at Firewheel Golf Park Lakes course . Course was in good condition and would recommend. Course was busy due to great weather and low temps so pace of play was slow but tolerable overall nice experience.
Nice local course!!
Course is pleasing to the eye---lots of water, shade in the trees. Interesting and challenging layout. You have to pick your spots and hit to a target area. The greens rolled true, fairways were in decent shape, tees in so-so shape...
Pace of play was an issue however. I waited for nearly every shot and there was no Marshall to speak of. Cart girl came by twice and even as hot as it was she offered ice if I needed it...
Cool course, good shape, I'll be back but I likely won't pay there if it's a busier day...
