About
The Lakes Course at Firewheel is a links-style course that is loaded with water, and was a Dick Phelps creation on his return to Garland in 1987. Hole 7 is the most difficult–a long 549-yard par 5 that requires an approach over a pond.
Getting there : From Dallas, take Hwy. 75 north and exit Arapaho. Turn right and when you come to N. Garland Ave., turn left. Drive to W. Blackburn Rd. and turn west. The course is just down the road.

The greens and fairways are in excellent shape. Tip of the hat to the City of Garland.
Great course
Course is in excellent condition...play this track a couple times a months and only disappointed when the monsoons come...other than that must play the track...
Excellent condition for the price
Have been playing all over recently and let me tell you... for the price I got of $31 per person this course is AWESOME! Greens in great shape. Rained the morning of so it was a little muddy in some spots but overall this course is in excellent condition. Especially after the freeze a few months ago. Highly recommend
Challenging Course
The course is in great shape for this early in the year. Very enjoyable round
Good for the Cash
I been playing this course for years. Last week I broke 90 for the first time on what i consider a challenging track. Greens are coming in nicely and the fairways look great. All things considered with the sever freeze we had. This manager does a fine job. I will be back sooner than later.
Sandy greens
The greens had a great deal of sand on them probably from a top dressing that was recently done. Some of the greens are down to dirt in some areas and really need some time to heal. The tee boxes also need that same time to heal. My recommendation would be close the lakes course for two - three weeks let it grow back and then do the same thing to the old course.
Course looked like recently sirated. Greens were slow & still had fertilizer on them.
Pace of play was good.
