Legacy Hills Golf Club
About
Legacy Hills Golf Club opened in fall 1996 and immediately gained the respect of the central Texas golf community. Designed by Greg Cash and Billy Casper, the course blends in beautifully with the natural terrain, featuring rolling hills, old oak trees, ravines, and numerous elevation changes, both in the fairway and on the greens.
Berry Creek runs through the layout, and is integral to the signature par-5 18th hole, where you'll have two options off the tee. One side offers the more conservative lay-up, while the other option involves clearing the creek but gives you the chance to get home in two on this 520-yard hole. Fairway bunkers loom ominously, and the long green is extremely prone to a three-jack.
Before you get to that one, though, two par 3s stand out on each side. No. 4 plays 171 yards into a pond and a rock-guarded, three-tiered green. No. 16 goes 216 yards into another multi-level green guarded by water and sand on the right.
Legacy Hills Golf Club's ninth hole rivals the 18th as the signature -- it plays 357 yards uphill, with a creek along the left and fairway bunkers waiting for your tee shot. The approach involves a waterfall, but it's actually more scenic that it is difficult since a good drive leaves you with a short iron in.

this is a really nice course...wish the rounds was a little faster...
course was packed the day I played and it was very slow...you know when you arrive and all the members have their own golf carts that it is a certain type of course...the members are proud of their course and so they should be...but as a non-member, I felt like an outsider...poor signage...no food in the clubhouse was kind of disappointing too...having said all that, the course is beautiful, in great shape for this time of year and the greens were wonderful...GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY, if you have the time to play...am going to try the other Sun Valley courses next...
Fun course
Definitely more challenging than Cowan Creek. Nice changes in the elevation and lots of trees make the course fun.
Nice course and well maintained.
Range balls and cart provided. Course was well maintained and greens were in great condition. Sand bunkers also maintained. Excellent course in the Austin, TX area at a great value. Definitely recommend and will play again.
Nice course
Legacy is very playable. Conditions are pretty good considering the lack of rain. Several fun short par 4's.
legacy hills
the pace q was good, which is usually an issue at Legacy Hills and Sun City courses in general. However it was not in very good shape. The fairways were not just dormant but really matted down. I give em a break on that because it's December The greens were very, very grainy, ridiculous to putt. . From 2 foot out you'd have 8 inches btrak. They rolled horrible, bumpy, slow. But the most ridiculous issue was the tee boxes on the back! Every one of them from the black tees(tips) was slanted really badly.Couldn't find a level box. Ruined our back side It's tough enough to try to place a good tee shot in the fairway but constantly hittting from a side hill lie...no thanks. I'd not reccommend Legacy Hills to any real golfer.
Second favorite of the three Sun City courses
Legacy has a nice layout that can allow you to use almost every club in the bag.
Excellent greens, fairways, and course layout.
This is an excellenct course for all skill levels. Greens are well maintained and roll really smooth. Tee boxes are well maintained. Fairways are well maintained. The is an excellent course that isn't very busy. If you don't mind playing with the elderly crowd, this is your course. And if you do play with someone who lives in Sun City, don't play for money usless you have deep pockets. They will take your money. lol
Scenic setting, course in great shape, weather very nice.
Enough challenge to make it fun. Pretty hills and streams with clear water. Limestone setting. The weather was great (78) for December.
Challenging every time!
This is a thinking course, you can't just go and hit your driver off every tee. Play to your strengths where you are comfortable reaching the green. Lots of blind doglegs to drive to that challenge you each time.Fun course!
some greens challenging and some nice water holes. Course very dry so difficult to tee ball in tee box.
Great value for the money, and the course wasn't crowded. Dry Texas fall is more to blame than course maintenance. Some interesting holes and a few surprise challenges with water and undulation on greens. All in all, a pleasant experience.
This is a good course particularly for senior.
Well managed tee and fairway, and good condition in green area.
Beautiful course.
Enjoyed the course; seldom had to wait. Really like the way it's designed - water, rolling hills, etc. Do wonder why the clubhouse insisted on doubling up two singles in the cart - can understand that if the place was crowded, but it wasn't - so what difference? Only other negative is no eating/drinking facilities available, except for vending machines...which barely count!
great deal
the staff let us play the back nine first because of the crowd on the front nine. it allowed us to play real fast which is what we like.
Great Course; Slow Play
This is a wonderful course. It is very well maintained, the houses are far away from the fairway and it has interesting challenges. It is a golfer's course and the carts have very comfortable seats with full back support. Even the driving range has built in yardage markers on the ground for every level of the range. The downside is that the course is in the middle of a retirement community and plays very, very slow.
Love the course
I have played Legacy Hills many times and always find the course in great condition. This year is the exception and the course is in excellent condition. As always the fairways are in great shape, and the greens are fantastic. The course isn't super long but is a lot of fun to play and can be quite challenging. The one thing about Sun City and I most courses around the area, they are not forgiving on shots that head off the fairway and the second cut, Legacy Hills is not exception to that rule.
My new favorite course
Always in great condition. Challenging but it is somewhat open to allow for slight mishits.
