Great shape for early season

Got a good rate on Last Minute Golfer, so I decided to drive an hour to play this course. Turned out to be a great decision. Other then the bunkers, which is probably to be expected this time of year, the course was in great shape for so early in the season. Gold and white tees were "blended" and probably played closer to the whites, which was fine with me. Not very crowded, which was surprising, but also just fine with me.

A+ course that doesnt break the bank

Legit golf course, gives you a taste of what tour players play. Has everything your looking for and more. Plays 6811 (73.6/139) from back tees. Ample room to spray your shots without going out of balance but missing the fairway or greens will require you to hit a lot of different & difficult shots, putting isn't a walk in the park either. Consistently play this course and you will certainly improve you game!

Fantastic Course

This is one of my absolute favorite courses in MD and anywhere for that matter. Every hole is different and most holes are very memorable with tremendous scenic views throughout the course. Always in tip top shape and they have GPS on the carts which is a huge plus! Tremendous clubhouse, nice selection in the proshop and one of the best courses in the area. Check for online deals before playing as they usually have some offered on websites, but well worth the $ to play this track.

Best Golf for the $$$ -- Incredible Value

It was the first dry day after 3 straight days of rain. It's a championship course that drained, played and challenged like one! The course was in fabulous condition for it to be winter golf and no puddles anywhere. The bunkers where packed from the rain, but still playable. And the greens rolled a little slow, but understandable because of the rain. The round cost me $60...and was easily worth it.

Outstanding Golf Course

Maryland National is an outstanding golf course. It has so many beautiful holes and the greens and fairways are perfect. The day we played there was a frost delay. I believe the sand traps were not racked because of this. I have played this course before and the sand traps were OK. This is one of my favorite courses in Maryland.

Maryland National

Great course, scenic layout. Paired up with other Golfnowers for a great round. Conditions very good. Tees good, fairways great, chipping areas no issues, bunkers hard and difficult to predict, greens good, rolled true and quick. Generous fairways and smallish greens on the front nine with just the opposite on the back nine. Fairways a little tighter but still generous and greens medium to large. Some nice par threes all playing down hill. Very nice facility, breakfast sandwich good. Recommend.

play it you will love it

I dont know how you could layout a more fun 18 holes. Every hole is fun if you keep the ball in position.
Get out of position you pay.... but its not unfair you hit there. Conditions for this time of year perfect. Greens fast but smooth and true. Please do yourself a favor and play from the proper tee for your ability. You dont want to try to hit long shots into these greens all day.
Food in tavern very good also.. Make a day of it.

a golfers' course, don't come for the views

This is a good course in great shape with a great clubhouse but it does look kind of "blah" especially in foggy weather when the leaves are all down. It might be ok in clear weather where the surrounding mountains can be seen, but as I played it it was just ok, visually. On most of the backside you can see most of the holes, probably too many...the back is really open-air and the holes are laid-out near each other and overall it looks kinda blah. But the course itself is pretty good. A little tricked-up here and there...the front is tough and the back will leave you bleeding... but overall a good round. I wouldn't call it spectacular either in terms of golf or visually...but you will definitely be challenged.

Nice GPS. Tracks you everwhere

It's a very nice challenging course. GPS is installed and it's very useful. My only complaint is that the GPS tracks you down and sends warning message whenever it thinks you are not following 90degree cart rule etc. I also missed a called from clubhouse 20 minuites before sunset, I don't know what that was about.

Slick greens

Some of the fastest greens I've ever played. Some holes very difficult if you can't put spin on the ball to stop it. Course condition was very good. I will play again.

Great layout

I've played golf for 45 years and on many great courses throughout the country .. Maryland National is a true gem in the Maryland countryside . I played it mid week and midday so pace of play was excellent(a twosome played 18 in under 2:30). Course is challenging with very well placed bunkers for all level of hitters to find trouble off the tee. Fairways are in excellent condition and greens are well kept (by staff and players alike ). From the tees it doesn't look too intimidating but with this, being the first time I played it there are several holes that demand well placed tee and approach shots if you want to score well . My experience with the staff was excellant as,well . From the bag drop to the pro shop to the restaurant ... everyone was very welcoming and accommodatiing . So if you're in the area or live there and are looking for a great golf experience I highly recommend Maryland National

Deserves respect

This course has a beautiful layout with challenging elevation changes and undulating fairways. You can see the pride put into offering a very attractive track, well maintained for optimal play. It is a shame that golfers don't respect this and make attempts to repair ball marks on the green. Improper replacement of flagsticks left almost every hole with cup damages. Golfers who don't practice golf etiquette 101 should not be aloud on any course let alone a gem like Maryland National.
A few bad apples spoil it for the rest of us.

Great course and Rate!

Awesome course. I played as a single in the early afternoon on a Sunday and did not run into anyone on the course. It took me about 3 hours to play and that includes hitting more than one ball.
