Great course, has plenty to offer, tricky greens
The course is in beautiful condition, the greens are tricky and fast, the tee boxes and fairways are in excellent condition. Carts have GPS. Our cart ran out of battery and we got a replacement cart in less than 5 minutes.
Always Nice~~
Course is anytime nice. Greens are not fast but never slow. Most Fairways are well kept. Restaurant sandwichs are very cheap. They are only 6$ Including soda and chip. But oh my god! You get what you pay for!!
Great time, great course and great staff!
The course was in fantastic condition especially for this time of the year. The course was difficult because of the wind, I will definately come back and play it again in hopefully better conditions.
Fine, large, scenic mountain course.
This is my favorite course in the area and it did not disappoint. I have been known to drive up to two hours away from Ellicott City to play golf and this is as good as it gets. No houses to spoil the views, always excellent condition, and very challenging layout. Once it greens up it will be harder as the waste areas will fill in with tall grasses and make finding a ball impossible. This is a course that requires you to think about every shot's direction and length. Not always using a driver can be helpful, and the large greens require good lag putting to score. Even on a bad day, the scenery is beautiful. Highly recommend this course, especially at the $32 Golfnow price for which we played.
Overall
Great course, great design, great change in altitude and great difficulty from all tee boxes. Just got to know your game and play the right tee.
Staff was friendly and the establishment was clean.
I think it's too pricy for this economy
Worth a stop off of I-70
Hadn't played Maryland National, since it first opened and they were operating out of a trailer -- the course has matured nicely. In spite of post-winter conditions, (grass was still dormant) -- the conditions were very good. Fairways were lush -- greens decent -- rough, virtually non-existent. I can see this being a lot more penal, once the native grasses grow back. Five strong par 3s, four of which play downhill. Pretty hilly -- the day we played was cart path only -- we certainly got our exercise! Clubhouse is very nice -- can't comment on the food -- locker rooms decent. Will definitely play again.
Bring your camera!
The course was beautiful! The changes in elevation and blind tee boxes add just the right amount of difficulty. Overall the greens roll true (slight variations in speed), the GPS units in the cart are fun and quite useful, and the practice facilities are great.
Nice layout with 3 tough finishing holes.
A challenging course with terrific views in good condition. The three finishing holes always provide excitement.
GREAT COURSE
COURSE IS ALWAYS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. THEY HAVE A GOOD PRACTICE AREA. CARTS HAVE GPS.
BEAUTIFUL VIEWS. WHILE I DID NOT EAT THERE, I UNDERSTAND THE FOOD IS GOOD. NICE CLUBHOUSE/RESTAURANT WITH VIEW OF COURSE
Beautiful scenery
Good test of golf but not impossible to play. Beautiful scenery course condition is great greens putted great Enjoyed it
A great course!
Played on a blustery day and the course became even more challenging! The course was in great condition and greens were fast and true! A shotmakers course!
Very pretty and challenging course
One of the nicest courses I have have played, challenging on a few holes yet fairly open fairways on others. Truly enjoyed playing MN and would love to play again as soon as I can. Loved the entire experience.
Maryland National - Must Play
Great layout with a demanding finish stretch. Lot of elevation changes and holes protected from wind at tee and/or green but not in air! Always in good to great condition.
Hot deal
Great conditions from tee boxes to greens. Challenging layout, but fun course to play with lot of elevation changes and great views of the surrounding foothills. Great deal from golfnow, but would not play this course for a daily fee above $50.00.
Only complaint is I was to be part of a threesome, but the other 2 teed of 45 min earlier, so played as a single. Staff should be more accommodating so golfers do not have to go out in the middle of the day as a single..
Awesome golf
Maryland National is the best course in the mid Atlantic. The condition is excellent and the staff are first class. I play it as much as I can.
Hard Course in Excellent Condition
Course conditions were excellent, although some tee boxes had enough sand-filled divots that made choosing a sturdy place to tee off challenging. Fairways were beautiful. Greens had a few ball marks here and there, but in much better shape than other area courses. Greens tend to have large aprons in front. Many downhill and/or sloping fairways, downhill collection areas, and a few blind shots. Staff was very friendly. Par 5 No. 13 runs along side near interstate highway.
Worth the Drive
MD National is one of the better public courses in the DC area. If you're willing to make the drive up north, I highly recommend playing this course. It is tough but fair and it has a very good mix of holes.
Would Play Again
Interesting course. Looking for flat spots? Challenging but not too much from white tees. Will definintely play again. Thank goodness for the GPS because without it, you can add at least 5 or more to your score. GPS is essential on some holes. First course that I've seen a clock at the driving range - Thank you! Don't understand why more courses don't do this. Love the ball washer and club cleaner on cart.
Maryland National is in prime shape
Excellent course. Fairly tough from gold tees. In great condition. For first timers on this course there are some blind shots that can be tricky so ride up and scout.
Got a great rate from Golf Now. If I could get that rate would play there all the time.
Great Course
This is a challenging course but it is open enough that if you aren't a single handicapper you won't lose a lot of golf balls. The par 3s are all well designed, the par 5s are laid out nicely and there are some real challenge par 4s. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Overall this course is a definite must-play if you are an avid golfer due to the course conditions and layout.
