About
The Tattersall Youth Development Center at The First Tee Chesterfield Golf Course, as well as the First Tee of Richmond, was established to provide educational golf programs for junior players. This comprehensive learning facility includes an 18-hole golf course, a three-hole practice loop, a large grass practice tee, a putting green, and a short-game practice area. There's also a staff of qualified coaches and golf instructors that can help you improve your score no matter what your weakness is. As a learning course, it might not be what low handicappers are looking for if they want a challenge, but it's a perfect place for beginners and high handicappers to get some practice with the game. The layout is very forgiving with wide-open fairways that offer plenty of room. The greens are fast and sometimes framed with bunkers. There are several par-3 holes that will give you a chance to work on your short game.

Perfect track to sharpen your short game!
This course is a well kept secret in the area. When I left the area in 1988 to enlist in the USAF this place was nothing but dense forest. This course is perfect for walking just over 4,000 yds from the tips. Challenging par 5's but I must admit my driver had the flu! A 3 wood would serve you well on the longest holes here. Please give this course a try - you won't be disappointed. Played in the latter part of January still in pretty good shape. I'd love to see course conditions about mid spring / early summer.
Great starter course
My first time on a course was here. Good course to start, staff was helpful. I would recommend.
This course is great if you are looking for a quick 18 and get a deal off of GolfNow. Pricey during regular season for a short 18 hole course
The course is playing really well, especially if you can keep it in the fairways. Balls falling off the fairways into the leaves will be a 50/50 chance if your lucky to find. Greens hold true and roll pretty well. Good place for a quick 9 or 18!
Tees, fairways and greens are in good condition. Didn't feel rushed.
A great course for the beginner to immediate player. Just the right mix of 3, 4, 5 par holes. I like playing here repeatily!!!
The course is in great shape and offers more of a challange than it appears standing on the tee. The pin placements are well thought out.
We will continue to support this course, and give a thumbs up to the condition it is kept in. Leaves are an issue this time of year, but the grounds keepers were constantly maintaining the greens and bunkers with blowers during the day.
Great course and value
Good layout, short but not easy. Greens in great shape, small and you needed to hit the target or rough will really work out your short game.
Surprisingly fun to play
I typically play this course at least twice a summer with two other friends of mine. Althought the course is shorter than most, I find that I have to use a variety fo clubs. This particular day it was more challenging because of the pin placement. Fairways were clean cut and ran well. Surprisingly, the greens were in very good condition. The employees are cordial. The driving range was adequate to warm up prior to my tee time. A good place to play golf. The only downside is that you are forced to put your entire group on your credit card and you settle up with your group at a different time. I know other courses allow you to reserve the tee time and each individual pays his/her fee. I would also like to see more courses add in Richmondm VA.
