About
The Tattersall Youth Development Center at The First Tee Chesterfield Golf Course, as well as the First Tee of Richmond, was established to provide educational golf programs for junior players. This comprehensive learning facility includes an 18-hole golf course, a three-hole practice loop, a large grass practice tee, a putting green, and a short-game practice area. There's also a staff of qualified coaches and golf instructors that can help you improve your score no matter what your weakness is. As a learning course, it might not be what low handicappers are looking for if they want a challenge, but it's a perfect place for beginners and high handicappers to get some practice with the game. The layout is very forgiving with wide-open fairways that offer plenty of room. The greens are fast and sometimes framed with bunkers. There are several par-3 holes that will give you a chance to work on your short game.

What a great place to play. The greens are better than an $85 course. We loved it.
Some The Best Course Conditions in Richmond
We play at First Tee several times a year and the course conditions are always very good and today was no different. Lots of brown patches in the fairways but that did not affect play. Cloudy and misting rain the whole round made for no one on the course and quick play which can sometimes be an issue on this popular course.
Good coarse.
It was and is a great track for the price. I will definitely go back.

Had a great time. Fun course. We were not rushed and course was in decent shape.
Great course for the price
Had a great time. everybody was nice. The course was great for me. Im a beginner and it was good for me to play and enjoy myself. I would recommend it to my friends.
They need a Marshall!
If there is a Marshall on duty it's the best course for the money. If there is no Marshall it's brutally slow.
I saw 1 group on the tee box with 3 foursomes waiting patiently at the same tee box. I saw a 6-some! It was bad and I just left early
First Tee Chesterfield
Greens under repair currently, but I knew this beforehand. Overall a good short course that will not challenge the long hitters, but is tight enough to demand controlled play. Greens can be smaller, especially the par 5's which means you need to be cautious when trying to reach in two. I play here a lot and can't wait for the fairways to get a little greener, and the greens shapen up after the repairs heal up.
Great for families
We played 9 holes with our kids 9 and 12 for the first time and found the course better than expected and appreciated the patience of others.

Great little course to practice.
I use this course to practice. You can normally get out and play a round in less than 3.5 hours. In the summer play slows down but on off days it is a great place to work on your game. Staff is very friendly. Try it, you will like it.
This good short game course
Great course to work on your game. Give enough long and short holes to use most of your clubs
Average Winter Course
Their was some construction going on but everyting was neat and out of the way. Greens were in rough shape. Expected dry grass in fairways but not so much in greens. Traps had not seen a tractor in weeks. Recent rain had drained well. More than likely a good summer course.

Love the course
Much more challenging than the distance would imply. Great shape and fairways are awesome. For November, greens were in fair shape... undulating and consistent but some sparse areas. All par 3's were challenging.

Course is fairly short, greens were mostly in good shape. Has some interesting holes and a good pace of play. Shot an 86 this time around!

Good tune up course!
Staff super friendly and helpful. Course was is good condition overall, a few spot on some green, but not bad at all. Nice course for working on your short irons, wide fairways on the few Par 4 & 5"s.
Great for beginners and experienced a like. It was our first time here but will definitely be back soon.
Course could be great
I was very put off by the length of fairway, and rough grass. The green conditions were horrible. I also did not like the way the club house does not have drinks for sale other then the vending machine. For those of us who don't carry cash it's very inconvenient.

Short but nice and challenging fairways in good shape, greens are being worked on fun course making you use irons
Had a great time. Two of us played in about 3 hrs. A little wet due to rain the night before , but still very playable. Fairways nicely manicured for this time of year, greens very good shape for time of year. Used more irons then some courses, par threes were quite challenging , whole course had a nice set up.
Easy for my guest, challenging for me.
We were a little late, nobody spazzed out. Great, easy pace and the course was in good condition except for a few deep roughs of zoysia that tried to eat the ball. Saff friendly and laid back attitude made it a most enjoyable experience.
