Nice course, lots of fun
Lot of challenging shots, it rained while I was on the course, the greens and fairways held up nicely.
Good place to work on your game
Played Friday after lunch and was able to tee off easily after hitting range balls and there was no wait on any hole during the round. Will be back very soon.
First Time at Brock
I liked the layout. The guy in the clubhouse walked me outside and quickly pointed out some of the features of the course and some of the more difficult holes. Some greens were in pretty good shape, some were pretty spotty. Lots of doglegs. The bayou that runs through the course requires several forced carries.
Decent course.
We played on a Saturday morning for $28 so it's hard to complain for anything. This felt very much like a municipal course. The fairways were poorly taken care of and the tee boxes were slanted. Otherwise no major complaints besides the no sale of alcohol and a lack of cart girls.
Not Worth the Drive from Pearland
Driving range is short and can only be used for irons, Carts are in good condition. Staff is friendly. Food and drinks are limited to a snack machines. Tee boxes are a little rough, fairways lack enough grass, minimal bunkers, some greens have been partially lost (and some fool placed a few cups in the center of the dirt areas of the green). Tree-lined fairways and several par fours call for strategy rather driver off the tee.
If the course was closer to my home, I'd go back there, but it's not worth the drive from Pearland.
Nice layout
The greens were in better condition than the fairways. But, for a muny course, not too bad. It was a pretty good crowd for a Saturday and with a few exceptions, we were not pushed nor waited for the groups ahead or behind us. Finished within 4 1/2 hours.
Great Course even with no food.
Brock park is in superb condition. Particularly after playing Evergreen Point last week where the greens were miserable. The greens at Brock, in contrast, are wonderful. They looked great, rolled very nicely but were not pushovers. They do have some slope to them and several are convex. That means they are tough to hold if you don't hit a good shot. Number 10 is a very tough hole if you miss the fairway left. The layup is one of the toughest I have ever seen. Hit your layup a tad too hard and you'll be dropping and playing 4 to the green.
It's not a long course but they seem to put the length exactly where it makes the course tougher. The par 3's are very long and nine and eighteen are challenging; especially number nine. A tough layup on number nine makes your third into a prevailing wind across a deep bayou. We had a stiff breeze on Saturday so the shot was definitely tough.
Brock Park is truly a very nice course to play. The driving range is very short so they only allow irons. But since all you need to do is loosen up it's not a big issue. At least is isn't for me.
Go Play (with a Scottish brogue.)
Worst course ever!
To start with the fairways and greens were just aerated, which really didn't matter as the course was more weeds and dirt than grass.
While the layout was fine, the conditions of the course, club house (no berverages available of any kind !) and course was horrid. Missing tee box signs, ball washers, etc. Tee boxes were dirt mounds. It was like this course was abandoned.
Challenging
The course is very challenging in that you will have lots of trees, bayous to cross. You start and end each nine hole (one, nine, fourteen, and ten) you have three ditches, two water holes, and five doglegs; it will test your endurance. All N all it is a great course; for me it is very challenging.
Good Sunday
I shot a 46 in the front 9 holes and a 44 in the back 9. I was paired with a Father and Son team and I enjoy playing with them. I really enjoy my Sunday even thought it was on a slow pace play.
good course for the money
Excellent experience. Recommend to anyone. Good for beginners and scratch golfers.
tuff back nine
The front nine starts to get you ready for the back nine.
The par 3 are long and a great challenge.
The fairways need more grass, but most of the greens are very good shape. The price to play is what a municipal golf course should be.
this course is nice
very tough course..dont let the distance fool you.
Great layout
This is a great value for your money great holes lay out specially the back nine
Unforgiven hole if U missed the fairways. ...... You think U can PUT try this greens
If U can hit them, try it out for ur self.
They don't like GOLF NOW reservations
The one guy there gives us heck every time we go. I had a 11:44 tee time, I got there at 9:45 and practice chipping & putting till about 10:35 and there had NOT been any body teeing off for at least 25 mins. He was about to let me tee off but then said NO YOU BOOKED THROUGH GOLF NOW SO YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 11:44 "I AM TIRED OF YA'LL BOOKING ON GOLF NOW! I DON'T MAKE ANY MONEY OFF OF THIS! Hold the phone I thought this course was owned by the city. Anyway I kept putting until about 10:55 then sat in the club house... about 11:15 he said I can tee off when ever I get ready.... only 1 group teed off during that whole time I had to wait! I get "punished" because golfnow offered me a GREAT RATE!
Enjoyed my round
The course challenged my skills to get the ball up in the air, over bayou's and to elevated greens. I enjoyed the course but because I got a really good discount on 18 holes I was treated poorly when I got there early for my tee time. Apparently if you pay full price no matter what you tee time is they let you play whatever time you arrive but if you have a discount they don't like you to arrive early!
Challenge for a first timer...
Brock Park is a nice course. We played it for the first time today, and each person in my 4 some was impressed. Course was in surprisingly good condition for this time of year, greens were in good shape, but played both fast and slow. The course will make you use all of your clubs for sure… You have to shape shots and hit to spots. You can not beat this course for the value. I will definitely play this course again. It was not jammed packed and you could take your time with out being rushed. I would love to play this course during the spring….
Worth a try!!
Course was in great shape, especially for all the rain lately. Greens were in super shape.
You get what you pay for.
All aspects of the course are in poor shape but at 10-15 bucks, you get what you pay for. Hope they invest a little time and money into the course to get it back to right and then I will be back.
