Overbooked.
Too many people waiting for same tee time,1st cart we were given was not charged fully had to get new cart towed to us ,
Very nice challenge
course was in great shape and challenging will return.
Nice course
The course was in much better shape than I expected. Overall, I was pleased with the course conditions. The people there are very friendly and even though the course was packed, I didn't feel like I was waiting too long to make my shot. There are quite a few shots that have to carry over the bayou, so course knowledge is helpful in knowing when to lay up or when you can go for it. All in all, I thought the course was pretty good and I look forward to going back to exact my revenge (which I definitely owe this course!).
city needs to spend some money on this course
Course condition was ok however all the greens were spiked up real bad from the number of beginners that were playing. The greens also ran very slow and held on approach shots. Lots of ball marks another sign of the inexperience of the players. But I have always liked this course because you have to use good course management skills when playing and the greens are small and leave a tight window on approach. Don't expect anything other then vending machine fare when at course as the restaurant has been closed for a while. I'll go back but next time bring my own snacks.
Good course for budget golfers.
Course was ok. Had fun. Lots of leaves on the fairway. Overall if the course was closer to my home I would go again. Watch out for snakes.
Challengeing
This course is pretty cool. Different elevations that really challenge even your gps. You have to be able to hit the ball in different directions off the tee. Not as easy as some people make it seem. The greens are true as they say. Really really slow and in bad shape.
Great track, even better price!
Fairways cut and green, greens were soft and slow, good golf carts, and not very busy. The only negative I saw for this course was the unpaved cart paths. They were survivable though. I will definitely play again, especially for the GolfNow special.
some very challageing holes and some enjoyable holes
course has some fun and easy holes. the flags marking location are all the same color making it difficult to see if it is in front ,middle or back. attention as you go from tee to green is a must. there is some very difficult holes. the greens very easy to putt on, the day we played they ran about 7 to 8. it takes more than 1 trip to learn this course. i would go back. only draw back is the flags.
Great Value
I've not played this course in at least 4 years during my hiatus from golf but I was very pleased with the experience. The overall landscape is great being tucked away off the beaten path. The staff are super friendly and the Marshalls don't give you hard time. I still consider myself a beginner but show flashes of greatness from time to time and this course provides enough challenge but not too much for guys like me. There are some simple straight holes where you can just swing away with your driver plus a nice amount of forced carry holes and a few dog legs to contend with. Greens are decent shape but then again I don't have a whole lot to compare it to since I haven't ventured out to the high dollar courses yet.
So for the money I would definitely recommend the course and will play again probably real soon!
A Good Muni Course
Brock is a good little muni course with long par 3's. All but one were over 180 yds, one of the few courses I've played with every par 3 that distance. The greens were in pretty decent shape with only a few needing a little work. There is a bayou that comes into play on this course on several occasions and thus making you play your shots accordingly. Overall a nice little muni course.
great course - awesome value
I love this course. Well mainted. Great value and friendly staff.
I love Brock. It has history and the old feel of classic layout. It is fun!
I love the shot making demands of Brock. It is fun having to work the ball both ways off the tee then to small greens. It's a classic. I like the feel and history. I play more than a 120 rounds and year and I was asked why I don't come out to Brock more. Problem is the greens. Unfortunately they are grainy shaggy and impossible to enjoy or feel competitive. A six foot breaking putt sucks on these greens. They can blame it on how old the greens are, however the city does nothing about mole cricket infestation which causes horrible sandy unstable services among other problems on and around the greens. The winter is normally better. I could guarantee with the right super interdependent things could be 100 times better. I have seen it.
Good Ol' Brock Park... still interesting
Brock has been a staple in this area for so many years. They too have suffered from a slow economy. The course has a great trac with some interesting hole layouts. The greens are usually slower than most, but in very good condition. The traps could use some attention. The staff is pleasant. Now, the clubhouse is nothing more than a "starters shack" with nothing to offer anymore. They chose to close the grill/bar a few years ago and that is most unfortunate. If your there solely for the golf, your getting a good trac for a good price.
Great Place to Play
Played the course for the first time with my 12 year old son. He has only been playing for about 2 months and I have just taken the game again up after being away from it for 11 years.
The course was not too difficult but there are several risk/reward opportunities to be had. Hitting over the bayou when it is in play is a bit intimidating and we both had difficulty with those shots... psychological. It was a great place to spend an afternoon and the course played great. Overall it was in good shape. The ball really skipped down the fairways for extra yardage off the tee. The greens were very fast and a bit difficult to adjust to, but overall very good.
Always a fun coarse...wish the cafe was open for snacks etc.
Lots of trees and bends plus teeing over water 4 times...fun
Short, tough course!
Course is fairly short and really tight. Big hitters off the tee won't find this course friendly, many holes take the driver out of your hands with blind shots, doglegs or trouble in the 200-250 range. Some of the approach shots here are some of the hardest I've seen in Houston. Almost every green is a postage stamp.
Greens were a bit over grown (helped them from being brown) and fairways were average. Hard to blame them with the lack of rain in August. I would play again for the right price.
Excellent Choice
I have not played Brock in several years because of the price and the condition. The course with all the trees and bayous is very challenging. I have now put this course back on my play list. Brock is fun to play, i.e. grass on the fairways and the greens are small with better than average speed. The staff is doing a great job !!
Good Value.
Course is out of the way, but good value. Staff are super friendly. Where are you going to get a $1 Gatorade on a Houston golf course?
This course was under $20 a player for greens fees and cart which is nice, but played like it as well
Issues with the course
Greens are badly kept - no true reads could be obtained
Fairways are moderately kept
Tee boxes are very uneven
rough was in need of care and debris from trees needed to be cleared
