Clear Creek Golf Course
About
Clear Creek Golf Course is a flat, wide-open links-style track loaded with water and bunkers. The only sort of elevation changes you'll experience come from the ravines that route through the course and the undulating greens.
The back nine is the more challenging, spiced up by some interesting par 3s and two outstanding par 5s. Clear Creek's 11th hole goes 555 yards and involves an approach over a ravine, and No. 13 is a 584-yard monster that double-doglegs to a skinny green framed by bunkers.

Great value
This course was a lot better than I was expecting, fairways and greens were soft, probably because of the rain over the weekend but still pretty well maintained, greens could be cut a little lower though
good challenge, well kept
Has the right number of sand traps and water features to force you to make quality shots. You will find this course to be an excellent outing for all skill levels, you will not be disappointed.
Awesome value
Always a good bang for the buck course. The green were rolling fine, you can tell they were aerated a few weeks back, but it was totally fine. If you don't play from the back tees, you really only need to hit driver a handful of times, you really have to use course management here. Ground was hard as a rock, so you are going to get a good roll out on hour drives, but it will get you in trouble if it kicks forward into the rough. Once its in the rough, you're dead, you can't hit out of the high stuff, that is if you are lucky to find it. One approach shot, we saw exactly where it landed and we still couldn't find it. I would definitely come back and recommend this place for $15.
Good Course
The course is set up nice with a significant amount of hazards. The greens are very nice and roll true. The pace of play was slow but not horrible. The restaurant and cart staff were fantastic. Would definitely play again but during the week.
Golf etiquette?
This was my first time playing this course. After reading positive reviews online and complimentary word of mouth, I decided to give it a try.
This course has nice facilities and good range/putting greens. I decided to try and start a little early (less than 10 minutes before my scheduled tee time), but there wasn't a Marshall at the 1st tee to check-in with. The 1st Hole was empty, so I decided to start.
My round started great, the course layout is straightforward with not a lot of elevation changes, and isn't too challenging. It's a great course if you're looking to work on your driver, as the majority of holes provide the opportunity. Trees are limited, so there's one less obstacle to be concerned with. Then I reached Hole #4...
Two fellas in separate carts were in front of me, I was in no hurry, so I decided to wait. Unfortunately, there was a two-some playing in front of them as well. I wanted to get my moneys worth, so I decided to wait...golf is a game of patience anyway, right?
For the 6 remaining holes of the front nine, I had to endure the slowest play I have experienced. It wasn't necessarily the two fellas in front of me, maybe not even the two-some in front of them, but seriously?! To put it in perspective, it took me almost 2 hours to play 6 holes...that's absurd! I contemplated calling the clubhouse and having them send a Marshall out since there wasn't one insight, but refrained.
Here's where it gets interesting... On the turn, the original two fellas in front of me made a stop at the clubhouse, so I decided to use this opportunity to get ahead of them (since I was playing on my own). The two-some in front of them were waiting to tee off on the 10th Hole, as there was another group in front of them. As I waited for the two-some to tee off, the original two fellas that were in front of me on the front nine drove past my cart and inserted themselves back into there original place behind the two-some waiting to tee off. I thought to myself: 'What the...?' Did I not make it obvious that I was waiting to go after the two-some? Is there some golf etiquette I don't know about where I'm NOT allowed to jump the line if the opportunity presents itself? Since I saw that there was a group in front of the two-some, as well as the two-some, and NOW the two fellas in front of me, I decided not to make a stink about it. I would be waiting regardless. Luckily, I was playing a good round and recorded my lowest round ever, but I was really disappointed on the pace-of-play and total lack of a Marshall. This course is located pretty far away from my neck of the woods to begin with, but that coupled with ridiculously slow play and what seemed like rude golfers, have prevented me from playing this course again anytime soon.
Well maintained.
I can always count on this course being in great shape.
Good value
Course was in good shape, the greens were a little slow. Pretty good layout. It was pretty packed on a Sunday, but the pace of play wasn't that bad.
ccurse has great features
you cant just grab a driver on every hole, very fun course to play
Great value course
Course is in good shape and great value considering how cheap it is. Fairways were good, and greens were in good shape, but left with a lot of divots. Pace of play is usually pretty slow here in the afternoon/evening. I enjoy playing here and have been several times.
This course is excellent
The pace was really quick it was amazing we really enjoyed playing there.
Great Course for Cost
The Bunkers were not raked, could have have been due to inclimate weather a couple of days prior but the carts were off the path and there was no standing water in the bunkers, therefore you would expect them to be raked. They were hard and firm like clay. Other than the bunker conditions, the course was in great shape and for the price it is almost unbeatable! I recommend this course but wouldn't pay over $35
Best in town for the money
if u want great value and a fun course to play, this is the place!!
Great condition
The course has the best overall conditions in Houston. I played Golf Club Of Houston the week before and the conditions there are rivaled by Clear Creek. I congratulate the staff.
Nice course and friendly people
First time at course on my birthday, good price for a Sunday. Course in very good shape , very challenging.
Will be playing course again.
Course in Good Shape
Enjoyed the round, fairways had good grass that wasn't too thin, and greens were in good speed. Would recommend play.
Four Star course for Two Star Prices
I thought the course was in excellent condition especially for the middle of August! Greens rolled well, fairways were flush, and the course is fair. It is fairly straightforward with no tricks that you have to be a lifelong member to know how to play certain holes. It was a 30 minute drive for me since I live in North Houston, but it was worth it and I will definitely be back soon! GPS in the carts is a huge plus, too!
Fantastic Conditions
Definitely the best value I've found in Houston all summer. The course was in awesome shape. The hottest time of the year hasn't taken any toll on this track. Pace of play was a tad slow but we finished with just enough daylight after teeing off around 4:00.
What a jewel
I simply love playing Clear Creek! Even in the middle of a Houston summer, the greens are well kept and the fairways play really nice. This is not an easy course by anyone's imagination. A nice plus is that the carts are equiped with GPS.
Bring Your Canteen…
We drove about 40 minutes hoping for a links style experience at a great price. Got both, including a $19 Golf Now rate so no complaints there. But unfortunately, I do have complaints.
Even though we went on a Saturday, it was in the afternoon on a triple digit day, and that combined with having the GPS on the carts I had hoped would speed he pace of play. So I was surprised when the round turned out to be a grueling 5 hr. 35 min. The marshal was essentially non-existent on both the first tee (we even started late) and the course, leaving us no recourse for the foursome in front playing the back tees without the game, while somehow evolving into a five-some on the back 9 to add to our already excruciating pace.
We did choose to play in the heat of the day (and year) but we normally have a blast as long as we are hydrated. The problem was that none of the drinking water coolers on the course had one drop of water at any stop. I do know that some courses do this ‘on accident’ to increase refreshment sales, and I have no idea if that is the case, but when you are talking 100+ degree heat someone could be seriously harmed so at best it was negligent on such a hot day. Not only should they be refilling the water for pure safety reasons, the refreshment cart (especially as your only alternative) should come around more than once per nine. The cart girl was very polite, a highlight to the day, but maybe they need to go to two carts on the busier weekends? Even when you do buy from the cart like we did, you do not know at that time the need to stock up due to the lack of drinking water up ahead. So it only helps alleviate some of the hydration problem.
I do realize that this could be a one day anomaly, certainly pace of play comes and goes on any course, but I am hopeful that this review will at least shine a spotlight on the drinking water availability provided to the players here. They have got to start taking the Texas heat more seriously than what we experienced even if management has to refill the containers themselves. Previously chalked up to cheapness, I now understand why many folks sneak in their own drinks while playing...
Course wise, it was is in good general condition, the greens were excellent and the practice chipping area was nice. But I found the layout simple and somewhat monotonous and the sand was low and compact despite the super dry conditions so it is not to my own personal taste.
In fairness, due to the length of our round I was not able to speak with anyone (beyond the cart girl) so I am not sure how aware they may be about these issues on this particular day. However, based on my round here I certainly could not recommend this course at this time.
