Pearland Golf Club
About
Pearland Golf Club opened in 1982 after Jay Riviere was brought in to build the course as the centerpiece of a residential development for senior citizens. Mike Hoelzer rolled through in the late 1990s for a redesign on this fairly basic 18-hole golf course. The short design features generous fairways and prominent bunkering around the undulating greens. Lakes and ponds have been added over the years and impact play on most holes. Trees have also been added over the years to spice up the flat, prairie-like course.
No. 9 is one of the toughest holes, a 440-yard par 4 that doglegs and has water. No. 16 is considered Pearland's signature -- a 554-yard par 5 that also doglegs and has water in play.

Great Greens
One of the attractions to playing this course is that the greens are well maintained. The area recently had rain so there were a couple of wet areas, not unexpected, and the sand traps were packed. However, everything was mowed and looked good. Pace of play is the only issue I have routinely experienced there.
SLOOOOOOOOW
Tee time at 7:20, didn't tee off until 7:40 because they'd stacked the times 5 min apart. Said we were lucky...sometimes they do it 3 min apart.
Finally teed off behind a 5 some. Made it through 9 holes in 2 hrs 45 min and went home. No excuse for a round that slow. We won't be back
I’ll be back
First time playing the course and enjoyed it very much. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are the best kept in Pearland. Fairways will reward you, if you can hit straight. I will definitely be back to play again.
Great Course
Tee Boxes and Fairways are in very good shape. Greens had just been aerified, but were healing extremely well. I played in the afternoon and pace of play was no issue. Great Course and would highly recommend.
Working on green
The course is good... Fairways bunkers shape... Every thing is fine but are working on greens... Will be better....i recomended
Good layout. Greens were rough
Have played here before & usually good conditions. Greens had been punched so a little rough, but otherwise good. Great value!
Greens punched recently
Love this course. But...again no Marshall rate of play is so slow. Greens have been punched recently and sanded.
Great Value
This course is one of the best kept secrets in the southern part of Houston. It's not the longest course, but it has some great features that will test your shot making. The greens had been punched earlier in the week, but everything else was in great shape.
Nice course.
I got a hot deal for just under $20 and it was awesome. The course had a tournament earlier in the day so it was backed up. Lots of elderly men who for some reason walked instead of having a cart and that made pace of play almost unbearable in the heat. Great course besides the punched greens. I’ll be back for sure.
Felt Mislead
I’ve played this course before, was easy to pick to play again based on reviews I read , made 3-4 days before I made the deal, reviews stated the course was in excellent condition . (purchased on the morning of the 29th, played on the 31st.) Nothing mentioned on Golf Advisor that the greens were being punched and sanded on the 29and 30. Big disappointment when we reached the first green and found out when my ball hit the green and saw a “splash” of sand. Went ahead and played, the greens got in my head, just wasn’t any fun all day, very disappointed. Went to the grill afterwards, had a burger, was pretty good. A worker in the pro shop came in, I mentioned the condition of the greens , no mention of greens when I purchased online, thought Golf Now should have shown that info. Golf course superintendent came by, nothing much from him. Said they had notified Golf Now about the greens being worked over. I asked him if he could check it out, he didn’t seem real interested in looking, left the room with nothing more to say. When I got home I rechecked to see , nothing mentioned about the greens BUT THE PRICES DROPPED ABOUT HALF! On the way out we noticed they were having a tournament when we leaving, Bet that was a happy bunch at the end of the day.
Wish I could give a better review but Golf Now or Country Place messed up. Guess from now on should probably call the course directly for real info before I buy online again.
Best regards,
Mike O
Mike O,
I apologize you felt mislead. I am the golf course superintendent and never spoke with you as you claim. Please email me at pgcagronomy@gmail.com so I can properly address your concerns. Thanks.
Nice course ,slow play
Wish they would have given a heads up on the aeration of the greens before paying full rate ..greens were full of sand .other then that ,course was is in good shape.fairways are superb condition .pace is always slow ,seems like there is always a 4some of 65 yr olds ahead of me every time I play there .
The course is a great value
The fairways are like carpet and the greens are rolling really nice. The value is hard to beat in the Pearland/Houston area. You will be very surprised and worth the visit.
Great Greens
The course was in good shape, especially the greens. Pace of play a little show, 4 hours and 20 minuets. No one regulates pace of play anymore.
Fun Golf Course!
I always enjoy playing PGC. Staff is extremely friendly!
Slow greens
A beautiful day for golf in spite of the forecast for rain. Recent rains may have prevented mowing of the greens which made them much slower than normal. Green speed picked up on back nine but still slower than expected. Greens were in good shape as is the rest of the course.
Thank you for your kind review. Greens are mowed daily but are a bit “juiced up” in preparation for our first core aerification on 5/29 and 5/30. Speeds should pick up again as the summer progresses. We hope you come back and see us soon.
Weather
I couldn’t finish my 1st 9 holes because of the heavy rain , I just finish 5
I’m sorry it rained on you and you gave us a poor review. Hope to have you out again soon when there is no rain.
You gotta ck it out!
This is a shorter, narrow course. I did't pull driver until the 7th hole playing from the tips. The course is in GREAT shape with AWESOME GREENS! It is in a neighborhood but there are plenty of areas to miss on approach shots or off the tee. The course has recently undergone a million dollar renovation and it shows. The grill and pro shop are kinda basic but the course conditions and price make it all worth it. I chatted with Amy the course Pro for a while and she is really cool to talk to . Anywho , give this course a try....it doesn't disappoint.
Very Nice Course!! Needs Starter & Marshal
The start was not good. We were early, but started late because there was no starter & it was a fiasco at #1. Slow play ahead of us on every hole and we never saw a Marshal or a drink cart. $50 is a premium, especially for no course staff on duty. For the positive, the course was very nice, greens were great & the layout was fun! We’ll be back & hopefully there’s a starter, marshal & drink person working that day.
Thank you for your positive review. Unfortunately core aerifying greens is a necessary evil. It’s a lot of extra work for us but we do it to ensure the health and performance of our greens for the future. We hope to see you out again soon.
