Pearland Golf Club
About
Pearland Golf Club opened in 1982 after Jay Riviere was brought in to build the course as the centerpiece of a residential development for senior citizens. Mike Hoelzer rolled through in the late 1990s for a redesign on this fairly basic 18-hole golf course. The short design features generous fairways and prominent bunkering around the undulating greens. Lakes and ponds have been added over the years and impact play on most holes. Trees have also been added over the years to spice up the flat, prairie-like course.
No. 9 is one of the toughest holes, a 440-yard par 4 that doglegs and has water. No. 16 is considered Pearland's signature -- a 554-yard par 5 that also doglegs and has water in play.

Great Course
My son and I arrived an hour before our tee time, we weren't able to check in due to a computer glitch but was able to get on the range for some warm-up. We finally were able to check in and begin our round almost 45 minutes past our tee time. Great lunch area with a very nice lady who was doing everything she could to help us, no water on hand only cokes and beer. Once we began, it was immediately apparent that the course had been well taken care of even after some pretty heavy rain that morning and the day before. Greens were soft but ran pretty quick. A couple of greens had bare areas which made putting very challenging, if not impossible unless you stuck it 3" from the hole. Overall I loved this course and the staff for the most part were friendly and helpful. I cannot wait to play this course again.
Narrow fairways are challenging, bunker sand is poor quality
Course layout is moderately challenging and provides a scoring premium for straight hitters. Driving range is small enabling no more than 8 or so golfers access at one time. Insufficient staffing at the T-time I had. The course itself could have used a lot of attention and I would not play this course without getting the great deal I got on Golf Now.
Greens were TERRIBLE!
Have played this course several times and each time the condition of course is worse. Will not be back!
Good course, needs to improve fairway.
Good Value, Nice and friendly staff.
Not many people playing when we played. Maybe because it was hot. Skipped 2 holes bacause 2 groups were playing slow. But we had time to a few extra holes to break it even.
But the fairway need improvement, very bumpy. Was informed that they will be changing management. Hope they will slowly improve it.
No golf etiquette
We were playing behind a foursome of older players that acted like they owned the place. They had no golf etiquette whatsoever. They would drive the golf carts to and on the green. We watched them do that on several holes. These guys were a complete joke. After several holes of this, our group made a command decision to skip a hole to avoid a 6 hour round. Despite the lack of golf etiquette that these older players SHOULD have learned, the golf outing was very enjoyable.
This course needs work.
No tee times were observed so it was chaotic teeing off. The greens were in horrible shape, very bumpy and slow. The drink girl was great, appearing frequently, and very friendly.
This course is golf friendly for the average golfer.
Had a great time out there it was the first time a set up a tee time with golf now . com and everything went fine the staff had my name and tee time ready when I got there with range balls free if I needed them.I will use them when ever I need to set up tee times from here on out. Great course to play for the average golfer like me.
The course is very playable for the average golfer.
I teed off as a single on Sunday afternoon thinking that I would be able to play in about 31/2 hrs. I didn't count on the threesome playing from the tips and everywhere else on the course. When I checked they told me there was not a Marshall on duty so I had no choice but to follow as they never offered to allow me to play through. That not withstanding , the course was in fair shape except for the greens, some of which had bare spots from a fungus and were rather bumpy. For the average guy this is not a bad course to work on their ball striking. I'd go back if the price were right.
good course layout
Greens had quite a bit of damage. Did not roll real smooth. Fairways were good. Good value for price.
Wow has this course gone down hill
Unbelievable how badly conditioned this course is. Fairways, greens, cart paths, everything requires attention. It is a shame. Two years ago this was an excellent course with a challenging lay-out. Now the greens don't roll true, they are potted and bald in a lot of areas, you can hit a shot in the middle of the fairway and end up 90 degrees right or left, fairways are often bald and the cart paths were horrible. At least the green fees were only $16.00.
Great except the greens
Most greens were patchy with lots of sand but I guess youi've got to expect that at this time of year in Houston...
great value
We got a $20 tee time including a hot dog and a beer... great value!!
However, there were about 4 greens totally imposible to play.
Fairways and greens
Fairways were in decent conditions but were super bumpy to drive on.
The greens were absolutely in horrible condition!
To play a nice course and not pay high fees this is your course.
This course has a great layout and can be challanging. The fairways provide nice lies but can be a little bumpy. This course offers a lot of bang for the buck. To play a nice course and not pay high fees this is your course.
Good course for the money
I was able to get a late weekend Tee-time for $20 and easily got in 18 holes before it got too dark. Not a lot of people out there but probably because it was Sunday after 5:00. That being said, I believe it is semi-private so I don't think a lot of people out there are aware that tee-times are available to the public after noon. I have played it twice before in scrambles but remembered that placement on certain holes was imperative. The course has a lot of small hills and moguls in the fairway which makes it difficult to get a flat lie. The houses surrounding the course come into play quite often and there is plenty of water, sand, and OB to contend with. The overall condition of the course was great with the exception of a handful of greens. They had some kind of fungus that the greens keeper was clearly trying to get a handle on but in the meantime there are several patches that were missing grass and/or filled with sand. I actually had a chip that came to a dead stop as soon as it hit the green because of a big patch of sand that I didn't notice. The rest of the greens were very soft and receptive, yet had decent speed with regards to putting. Will be playing there as often as possible to "figure out the course" since I had trouble keeping the ball in play! OB surrounds most of the holes due to the backyards of the homes. So, for $20 and a quick pace it is definitely worth it for me to continue to give the course some play.
Greens are are terrible condition. Two are unplayable.
The course is really dry, which is expexted due to the lack of rain in the region. The greens on the front 9 are terrible. Back nine is in better condition.
I will play the courese again this Fall. I like the layout.
Wouldn't play again, even for $20 buck a round
Extremely dry fairways and greens. Mostly hardpan lies expecially outside the center cut of the fairway. Several greens were oversanded, dry and even void of grass in several areas. Tee boxes were uneven and very tough to find an even spot or where you didnt have at least one foot in a hole. Only thing more uneven than the tee boxes where the fairways. I've seen smaller moguls at ski resorts. The combination of hardpan and eneveness made these the worst fairways I've played in years. Cartpaths are just as bad. Every path was uneven and full of potholes or broken concrete. Clubhouse is dingy and there was no staff readily available. For a private course built in the mid eighties it sure looked like a forgotten cluhouse built in the fifties. When you do locate someone, they are friendly though. There is only ten or so slots at the practice tees and even though they seem to rotate tee locations, the ones open that day where very worn and hard. Throughout the round, I kept having the feeling that this course was cramped into the neighborhood and not designed then homes added. For 5 bucks more stick to Clear Creek Golf Course adjacent to this one. Better condition, more challenging and doesnt appear like its a forgotten muni.
greens need work
but when they get fixed the rest of the course is fun and chaallenging. only thing did not like is it the only course that when you drive on any fairway it is so bumby to drive
Great value for the price...
The fairways are in wonderful condition, the rough was fair and playable. The tee boxes are pretty level and in good condition. Most of the bunkers had plenty of sand and were consistent. The only bad thing about the course was the greens. They are patchy, rough and inconsistent. With that said, the course is definitely on my replay list as the good certainly outweighs the little bit of bad.
Nice mid level course in all aspects. Service was friendly and the Marshall was helpful.
Course play nice well taken care of. kinda right at points with homes on each side.Driving range bordered street making it hard to have confidence while warming up.
