Good little course even with maintenance works
Decent course even with current 9 hole maintenance. Bit leafy and the queues stack up on early morning round but worth the money
Avoid
We used to love playing this course. Having sold holes 2&3 to builders for houses, you are forced to play the back 9. And some holes are shortened, which further detracts from the experience.
The condition of the back nine holes are awful. Patchy greens with some looking like a digger has driven over them.
The green fees are not worth it, £10 would’ve just about been the right amount to charge.
We might revisit the course in 2027 after the works, even if it will be shorter and punctuated with more par 3s.
Front 9 closed and greens worst ever seen
Turned up at 6 o’clock in the morning to find the front nine closed and the greens look like they’d been hit by a bomb, tee boxes didn’t have a single bit of grass
Awful conditions would not return or recommend
SHOCKING
Terrible condition
The course is in incredibly poor condition. Greens are lifting and cracked, fairways sparse and only 9/18 holes open. Do not play if you like golf!
The worst greens and tee boxes I've seen
They are undergoing some changes to the course but there's no way they should be charging full price for the course in its current state. As you can see from the photos, both the greens and the tee boxes were in possibly the worst condition I've seen at a local golf course. While it's got the potential to be the best in Worcestershire I'd currently put it below both Lickey Hills and Pitcheroak, so save some money and go there instead.
Lovely layout but ruined by course conditions
It’s been hot in the UK but having played other courses in the area recently this had to be the worst kept. The fairways were totally dry and the tee boxes were covered in dirt and sand with no grass. None of that compared to the state greens though, there was only one that wasn’t cracked, burnt out and black in places, looked like they hadn’t been watered in weeks. That said the course layout was good but totally ruined by the upkeep.
Water water everywhere except where it was needed
Very disappointing experience today.
Pace of play… 5 hours for a 3 ball
Tees grey and dusty. I know it’s been dry and hot, but the tees should be playable. Bins over flowing
Greens were possibly some of the worst I’ve even played on. Huge cracks and craters on every green, browns areas too. The patches of green that were on the green were very thick and dense. Again I know about the weather but greens should be watered and cut. These were unplayable in many areas. Also ideally the fairways shouldn’t just end with a wall of 12inch grass , especially when running so fast that the ball doesn’t stop when catching slopes on the middle of the fairway.
The layout has potential and should be a delightful course. Whoever is in charge of the golf course seems to have given up on it
Great layout, but so slow and course falling apart.
Pace of play was beyond slow with very little course etiquette.
I understand it’s a course where people learn on but yesterday was so bad.
All courses need rain at present but this place the greens are literally falling apart in places.
Bunkers were shocking, some had zero sand.
Infuriating Days Golf
The Abbey golf course is well known locally for being a very VERY slow course and one which over books just to increase revenue, and even on a Monday afternoon this was still the same!
I thought I would try it on a Monday afternoon thinking pace of play might be better than a weekend but unfortunately not. 18 holes took me very nearly 6 hours with a minimum 5 mins wait on every shot. On several holes there was a queue of 2-3 groups or players waiting to start. Admittedly I was stuck behind a society day of 8 groups of 4, but this was not made clear when I made the booking.
There needs to be an easily accessible daily tee time calendar which can be viewed prior to booking to allow players a heads up about how busy the course is going to be.
The course and facilities itself are fine, but if you are looking for decent quality of golf, with a pace of play and rhythm which lends itself to good golf, this isn’t the course for you.
Abby hotel golf course
Great course, looked after really good. Friendly staff
Very poor coarse condition
Lovely place and staff were nice. The course condition was very poor. No grass on tee boxes and greens looked infected with dried out cracks all around the greens. The place is beautiful but not a place to play golf. Would be perfect for beginners
Course in bad condition
I recently played this course and was disappointed by the overall condition, particularly the tee boxes and greens. The tee boxes were uneven and poorly maintained, affecting setup and playability. Even more concerning, the greens were patchy, slow, and inconsistent, detracting significantly from the experience. While the layout shows potential and staff were courteous, the course conditions fell short of expectations for the green fees charged. It's clear that maintenance has been neglected. With improvements, this could be a great course, but in its current state, it doesn't deliver the quality golfers expect or deserve.
Good Course Poor Condition
Good course and enjoyable layout. Looks neglected and poor tee boxes and greens
Poor condition
I’ve played this course a number of times and have always enjoyed it. Unfortunately the course appears to be suffering from lack of maintenance with extremely poor tee boxes and a number of greens seemingly falling apart.
Good value at £35 on a saturday
Great course layout.
Greens were pretty good, some need working on.
Tatty around the edges of the greens though, generally bare lies.
Bunkers were a mix but generally no sand in the older bunkers.
Great course
Had a great day and the course was in good condition. The only downside was some of the bunkers were rock solid so trying to play out of them were near impossible. We saw evidence of additional sand being put into bunkers and some of them being GIR so they are clearly addressing the issue. Apart from that, great course and I would recommend.
Not a bad course!
Really not a bad course, I’ve played worse for much more money!
Greens and fairways are rough. I don’t like the idea the public can walk past you teeing off at any moment,
Course is pretty fun!
Course always in good condition. Fairways always 10/10. Greens were good today, little bit soft but thats more thank ok. Always enjoy this course, apart from the pace. Always always always a slow round. Managed to finish this round though.
