Disappointed
For £30 each a round I was expecting more than what we got, the complete course is in bad order from fairways to greens, divot holes are expected but not at the amount they have. The badger patches are from tee to green and most of the greens have been cut up with e-bikes (attempts have been made to fill and correct)
Both myself and my son nearly killed at least 5 children just running all over the course playing football and riding bikes up and down the fairway, walkers do respect the golfers and walk along bushes and stay in the paths, there was guys on the course drinking amd looking for balls so be careful if you go into the rough, it’s a tight municipal course for high handicaps to practice on but in my opinion it’s a. £15-£20 round at most, low handicaps like myself won’t rate the course at all and I won’t be playing there again.
Great course
The only thing that spoilt it on the day was the pace, but this was due to Bank Holiday, otherwise really enjoyed it 👍🏽
Bank holiday Monday golf
Arranged a game with 2 workmates, got there and a random player was added to our surprise. 2 groups in front were young teenagers who were very nice lads but few of them were playing for first or second time and were in rough or wrong fairway for most of round, which is fine but we shouldn’t be sent out 5-6 minutes afterwards as even in a football we caught them every hole., which meant the players behind were then waiting on us. Wasn’t organised very well and course was full on every hole.
Course cancelled booking and won’t refund me.
I was booked to play on 1st March with a friend. Day before, I received a text from the manager to say my booking had been cancelled and to contact my booking agent for a refund. I’ve since learned they had closed the course for maintenance work. Suffice it to say I tried contacting GolfNow and got nowhere so went direct to the course. After being fobbed off by three different people saying the refund was being processed by head office and it should be in my account by 10th, eventually I was told by Mark that actually they couldn’t refund me and I needed to go back to golfnow. Absolute rubbish service.
Called in for 9 holes which turned into 18
First time visiting this course and was a last minute booking. Paid £12 to play at 3pm. Was supposed how dry the course was, all greens in play and about half the tees were on winter Matt's. Generally the course was presented well considering its the first week in march. Course is a good layout with a mixture of dog legs, longer and shorter par 4s. A couple of greens had been solid tined, but no major issues.
Was only planning on playing 9 but as a solo golfer many groups let me through with no issue which is refreshing. Spoke to many golfers and all seemed to be friendly. A few stand out holes of golf fore, and quiet technical in place. Enjoyed my visit and would play again when I'm in the area...a real bargain for £12 to be honest...rather spend money on that than a bucket of balls on a busy range!!!
Staff and members very welcoming also.
Fun course but wasn’t worth £28!
The actual golf course is fun, some tough holes and some tricky greens, and yes it’s hilly I was pretty knackered afterwards. We were just coming into autumn and there had been pretty good weather, the greens were rough and slow and the tee boxes were pretty woeful… Maybe I just arrived at the wrong time I’m not sure? It’s a public course so lots of friendly people walking around and lots of dogs which I don’t mind at all
Overall I did enjoy it but thought the course should have been £15-20 but at £28 I’d expect a little bit more maintenance especially on the greens.
Return visit.
Considering the weather and lack of rain course was in good condition and greens very good, lots of variety and definitely recommend.
Lickey hills
Don’t expect too much when you go here Probably the worst course I’ve played in 40 years
Were we the only ones who paid?
A really good course for a municipal, decent tee boxes and greens in good nick. However, it was apparent early on that pace of play would be painful. In addition to this, there were people entering the course with full sets of golf clubs from every possible angle. Leading me to think that we were the only ones foolish enough to have paid.
Still a great course on a budget
Played here for the first time in 15 years and still a good challenge with some interesting holes that will test you. Staff very friendly. Despite quite a few people playing the pace was good. Fairways on longer holes were well cut and defined from the rough. The course are doing a lot to get greens in good shape but they are very varied in quality with some have lots of patches and cracks but given the scorching weather we have had not too bad. Bunkers need some attention, shallow sand and stones but that’s part of the challenge! A decent course taking account of the £17 fee. Would play again.
Slow…….
4 hours and 20 minutes to play a very short course is disgraceful
The 4 ball in front were playing in a pairs competition playing better ball so there were only two balls in play after the drive
They were spending 10 minutes on every green playing just two balls
Scenic!
Lovely scenic course, would be fantastic if it was a bit better looked after & a bit of investment, greens need a bit of TLC and divots replaced. Overall a really nice course though! Would play here again.
Hot dry day
Beautiful setting for a golf course. The topography
means there are a number of blind drives across hillsides The course was being watered but was suffering because of the drought. This is a council owned course but good value at £27
Lots of dog walkers but generally friendly staff, players and walkers.
Poor pace of play
Pushed our tee time back due to them putting a comp on with out our knowledge. Started of as a 2 ball then a 4 then a 5 ended up as a 7 ball at the end. 10:30 tee time finished at 16:00
Reasonable
I’ve now played this course 3 times, played each round midweek for £15 which is very good value for money however I wouldn’t be prepared to pay £30 as advertised on weekends as there are better courses for the value. Layout is good, greens need attention all over (maybe better since I played in writing this review) overall I would recommend if you are paying £15-£20, public pathways all through the course be prepared for walkers and dogs off leads running across the course
Could be great - but just not looked after
So much sand on the greens they’re basically bunkers. No exaggeration. People constantly walk on and play from the 3rd hole and clog everything up and no one ever checks that the people playing have actually paid.
