Not to bad
Strange layout , didn’t feel right walking through an estate between holes, course itself ok , just not for me
Nice Place, Awful Pace
I booked hoping to fit in a quick round at 5pm on a Friday. Sadly ended up cutting my losses and going home after seven holes as the pace of play was just so bad. I ended up behind a club match, 3 x four-balls taking an age over every shot. 5+ hour round pace. No chance of being let through and waiting ten minutes on every tee in 26 degree heat isn’t much fun so I called it a day. Maybe I was just unlucky but I suspect this course has a bit of a problem with slow play - the cards have an extra column on them prompting players on how much time they should aim to take, which is apparently 1:35hrs for the first six holes, 3:00hrs for twelve, and 4:30 for the round. Way too long for casual play!
On the plus side, of the holes I did play many were interesting with testing water features, and an unusual layout that winds through a housing estate. The greens were in great shape, quick and true.
I’d go back play the whole course but only if I could be sure I could get round faster.
Abbey Review
A typical hotel golf course. Visitors not repairing divot/pitch marks but apart from that and a bit wet under foot OK.
Abbey Hotel via teeofftimes
Played with two friends. One had his worst ever Stableford score . He was not impressed by the course, parttge early greens.
The back 9 are good. Didn’t like the front 6.
Reasonable
Booked on line took about 3.5 hours we were a two ball and were let to play through 3 times refreshing fair lay out suspect if it rained would be boggy but the condition for the time of year good greens fair that's all you can ask for

Disappointing course
This was the first (and last) time I have played the Abbey course. The pace of play was fine but overall the course was a disappointment. Firstly its set in a housing estate which to my mind is not conclusive with a pleasant game of golf with residents watching you play on some holes and walking their dogs! The bunkers had sand but it was very hard and you struggled to get under the ball. Most of the ball washers were either broken or were dry and there were no benches anywhere on the course if wanted to sit down,. The course was fairly uninspiring and was a flat parkland course. On the upside the greens were fairly true and the fairways reasonable but the course didn't feel well maintained. We paid £20.00 per round which was not at all good value when compared to other courses we have played recently. Overall not a memorable course and we wont be going back.
Abbey on a Thursday afternoon
Decent hot day again, and the course was dry, but not burnt out, and the greens had been kept a bit longer than normal due to the hot summer, but i thought they were in very good nick, and rolled well at a decent pace. The course is unusual as it winds its way mingling with a housing estate, but the design is ok, and some good challenging holes, with water being a factor on a number of shots, overall i enjoyed the course as it was my first time on it, and felt it was value for money.
Twilight golf @ Abbey Hotel
Arrival and check-in was trouble free and easy.
The practice green was in good order.
The overall condition of the course was very poor for the time of year, the fairways were long and the semi rough indistinguishable from the rough itself.
Greens were fluffy and in poor order with much debris to clear on a number of holes.
Pitch marks were in abundance and whilst we did not pay a lot to play after 5pm it was disappointing.
We would not play this course again despit being local.
Winter round
Course in good condition for this time of year. Nice pro shop and bar, all round enjoyable place to play
A well kept course
Enjoyed a great round of golf today with my dad and son. Nice wide fairways and interesting hazards. Great course.
Not to busy
We played on a sat pm tee time and was pleased to see a not so busy 1st tee ,an interesting course layout where you walk off the 1st green through a housing estate to the 2nd tee and the same off the 10th green the greens were good and rolled well some good golf holes to test any golfer the stroke index 1 par 4 is as tough as it gets will play again for £15 on teeoftimes
Good par 3's and immaculate greens
Overall course is in great condition, good test of golf, great par 3's,finishing hole nothing special, all in all well worth the money
