Enjoyable Course
Really enjoyed the course and will definitely play again. Only criticism was, that as first time players, the signage between green to next tee is poor to non existent.
We will know for next time but there were several times we were unsure where the next tee was. Wouldn’t take much sorting out!!
Abbey Golf
Whilst rhe course itself was in fairly good condition, it needed a good sprinkling as greens very dry and hard. But the worst part were the bunkers, barely any level of sand made it almost impossible to play out of the green side bunkers disappointing given its the easiest thing to maintain.
00000
Never in all my years of playing golf 45 years,,have l ever been held up by a five ball absolutely disgraceful, people need to know the rules before they play any sport, even when a member of staff came out to the 17th hole he did nothing to the people playing as,a 5 ball,,
The Abbey is a tree lined parkland course with plenty of undulating fairways but easy walking all the same.
Lots of interesting holes, nice par 3's and decent greens.
The only area the course should be improved on is the tee boxes, which are not befitting of a decent track.
Good off course facilities.
Scruffy
If you haven't played here before the directions are a bit rubbish, the tee numbers are a little postage stamps, Plus there is no way on earth this is a championship course, the fairways are scruffy, do they own a mower,
Had to ask 2 people for directions to the first tee,
Not worth the money they charge, and the buggys are a rip off.and the pro shop is rubbish
All in All very poor. Needs some money spending on it, alot.
Worse than a municipal
Terrible condition. Questionable whether they have any green keepers at all. Very busy and extremely slow play on the back nine. Little to no signage to know where the next tee is throughout the whole course. Seemed like a low class of golfers to, a hackers course. The clubhouse is tatty and run down. Needs some serious investment.
Long course
A longer course than I'm used to some
Par 4s we're a great challenge.
Almost birdied the longest par 5.
Nice water features around the course and some challenging holes. Bunkers were OK some did not have much sand in so ended up trying to take sand and found none leading to my ball shooting over the green into beyond and dropping shots unnecessarily.
Other than that it was all well kept
Unbelievablely Slow
Just Horrific
1hr 15 mins for 1st 4 holes.
2 or 3 groups waiting on every tee on every hole.
Hit, wait, hit, wait repeat. Massively over booked with people who don't belong on a crazy golf course.
Shame as half a dozen interesting holed.
Would never return
Great venue for a golf break
I spent 3 nights at this excellent hotel, booking 2 rounds of golf. I enjoyed playing so much I booked a third round on the day I was travelling home. I recommend it to players of all abilities.
Tough course - Not for the beginner!
Long tree lined course. Fairly narrow fairways so you must be playing well. Good tees and greens and course in good condition. Rough long deep grass so if you hit slightly off target you will loose a few balls. Testing course - enjoyed it - will play again.
really nice course friendly atmosphere good challenges all around some great water holes , suit consistent players who have a good drive. will be coming again. only thing i could find negative was lack of benches on the longer holes for the older generation did feel a little but will be hiring a buggy for the return. all in all very enjoyable.
Truly a gem!
Don’t understand some of the negative comments, this course has everything for the price range. It’s because of this, there may be waiting on the tees.
Suggest players who don’t like this, go to some of the other over priced courses in the area, where there isn’t a problem!
I’ll be back!
However the range could do with some TLC, again though, one the best around.
Great course
First time playing here. Some really good holes, can't fault the course at all. Best place I've played so far this year. Well looked after (even the bunkers).. Really nice day and no hold ups. Was strange though having to walk through a housing estate to some of the tees. Will definitely play here again, very good.
