Poor Greens
First time I have played here for 20 years and I probably won’t rush back.
Greens we’re in a poor condition with most having grassless patches making them very bobbly.
The biggest problem was the pace of play. Somehow a group of 6 had decided to play together holding everyone up but nothing was done about it.
We actually walked off after 12 holes as we were on track for 4.5 hour round…and we were only a two ball!
Untidy and poor greens
Shame about the greens, generally this course offers a good round with enjoyable layout and good mixture of holes with plenty of scoring opportunities. The greens were terrible, they were woolly and had holes and patches of no grass all over them. We played a few months ago and they were really good, I hope they manage to get them back
Decent course. Lots of repair work going on for summer months
Grounds keepers mowing fairways when we were on the. Didnt move, then when we eventually hit shot they kept their engines running about 10ft away from us, was a little bit off putting. Next hole walked up to the tee and the grounds keeper rushed over to mow the tee box before we got there and took 5-10 minutes doing so. This caused a build up of golfers behind us. Felt like he was doing it on purpose to annoy us.
Greens
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the course was well marked, really enjoyable tea to green but the greens were terrible and really spoilt a great course
Very Disappointed
Arrived early to use the range,no real signs directing you to the pro shop or course itself from the hotel car park ,luckily I saw a golfer going in so followed him.Ball Machines out of order and no balls available at range!!!
Went on putting green instead, bad condition, ball bobbling all over the place !
Same sort of scenario throughout the course ,greens in poor condition, bobbly ,cut up ,not swept /blown this morning..
I understand it’s coming out of winter months, but so disappointed to see the course like that.Like it needs some serious TLC.
10 -15 years ago we couldn’t get on this course due to how good it was and looked after.!!!!
Definitely not worth what I paid £55 for two .
Lucky to get a £10 tbh!!!
Needless to say we won’t be returning or recommending to other people….what a waste of money.!!!
Poor course
Course was well used and greens were awful, many diseased and patchy, tee boxes well used and not well kept, playing mats poor and too small. Disappointed with the visit played better courses for the same or even less than what we paid.
The worst greens we’ve ever played
Played in the spring last year for the first time and really enjoyed the quirkyness of the course, with many good holes.
However today, the greens were the worst we’d ever played in our life ! The shop said they had a disease, the holes looked like they had not been changed for weeks. The tees were horrendous too. The so called members do not repair any pitch marks, it was a disgrace. We had a drink in the reception bar as the golf bar was not open £6 for a beer which was off ! We sent it back, left and went to the pub down the road.
I would not play here again even if I was offered a free round, I can’t believe they even have a green keeper it’s so poor
10 year return Back
The pro shop was empty, and the greens were really poor but should be nice in a couple of weeks, the club house above 18 hole was closed .having said that the course is still good, with long holes testing all skill levels
Maybe they should shut the course when the greens freeze?
I played the course on a cold day. I expected that the weather was just warm enough that the greens wouldn't freeze but I was wrong.
I was surprised that I was allowed to go out. When the greens started to thaw they revealed a load of footprints where the grass had been killed and only mud remained.
A bit odd. Par 3s were a real stand out on the course. I imagine this place is a great round in the summer, but there are better places to go in the area.
Great condition for middle of winter!
First time playing the course with my brother on New Years bank holiday. Fabulous condition given the weather that we’ve had. Holes 2 and 5 were closed due to maintenance - no issues. Saw more green keepers tending the course than anywhere else I’ve played.
Driving range, pro shop and putting green also great.
Looking forward to playing again soon and in the summer!
Not bad for the money
Not a bad course shame about the greens very patchy making putting difficult and bunkers needed more sand but apart from that ok for the money
Wet weather
Have played this course many times
However yesterday the conditions weren’t fit to play
The course was far to wet with bunkers full of water. Standing water around most greens and in some really bad areas mini ponds had formed.
The y should have waited a lot longer allowing course to start drying out more or to slow the green keeping staff put sort out the front 9
Ruined a perfectly beautiful day for golf
To busy
This is a challenging course and for £26 would appear excellent value for money. However, the gap between tee-times is too short, so there are far too many people on the course, leading to very slow rounds (ours took over 5 hours, ridiculous).
The price point attracts too many hackers, for whom the course is miles to difficult. We were following two blokes in a buggy, who failed to get the ball more than 50 yards off the tee on numerous occasions but would not let us through.
Decent
Nice course. Played the last few holes with some friendly locals. A few quirky holes to make you think, with a few up and down in the middle. Signage could be better for the first and transitions between the estate and course.
The course it’s self is nice but the bunkers where like concrete almost Unpliable the greens where a little boggy in places
Wouldn’t rush back to play here there’s better courses around the Area for nearly half the price and there should be a discount for County club card holders even though they’re on the list of clubs that are supposed to give discounts they don’t and even seem unaware that there on the list.
Nice course, shame about the pace
I enjoyed the parkland course, it’s well kept and in a nice setting, unfortunately we were waiting on every shot for the entire round which was a bit annoying.
