Not great
First part of this course is brilliant and the rest of the front 9 is still good. Back 9 Has all sorts of construction going on, which for me isn’t an issue but for some may be.
The pace of play was awful. Queueing from the first hole onwards. Never had such a slow round and many parties were giving up leaving half way through the back 9, which you wouldn’t expect on a course of this standard and price range.
Good course but
Great course, however, the fairways have suffered really badly in the heat (like most courses I’m sure), the building works make a few of the hole a waste of time. It was interesting to see how the new course is being constructed but I won’t be returning until the building works are completed or near completion. Tee boxes good considering, aprons and greens still in good nick, very fast and proved quite tricky. A nice course and new sections look really good.
Hot day
We played during the ongoing heatwave so the fairways were very dry and hard - as they are everywhere at the moment. The greens were good. Pro shop staff and starter helpful and friendly.
Disappointing Experience
A tricky short course with a lot of Par3's - layout squeezed into area available, very hilly, buggies recommended which adds considerably to the cost. Overall course has a lot of development going on making it untidy and unloved. Poor irrigation greens starting to disappear and impossible to hold the ball with any club. Would suggest waiting until current work complete and course matures before playing.
Slow!
Huge excavations around holes 9/10 which slowed everything down. There should be a mechanism to pre warn golfers about this before they book. At no time we’re we told about this, not even in the pro shop when we checked in
Slow slow slow
5.5 hours for a round of golf.
Fairways were shocking
10 minute wait on each tee is no good.
Short course but a real challenge
Played this course several times now and on both occasions the weather was hot and sunny, the course plays short but don't be fooled into thinking it's an easy knock, far from it, the layout and undulations of nearly all the fairways make it a challenge in it's self, and the greens are firm, pacey and undulating, lots of up and downhill holes, reachable par five's in two but watch out for the strategically placed lakes especially on the last.
If your 50 years plus
Very good course some testing holes, but uphill and down dale, greens were hard to read a bit slow. You need a buggy. Having said that I will play it again. Very enjoyable
Been a While
Enjoyed going back, fairways in great condition, greens a little “fluffy” but had a great day. Borrowed a driver from the pro shop as looking to change mine which I thought was a great help as not quite the same practicing with a new club on a range/bay.
Lots of heavy machinery and groundwork’s going on so plenty of investment going on which is good to see. Would recommend a visit if you’ve not tried it before … not long, but definitely a thinking man’s course and you need to manage your game to score well
Exiting course 45mph winds!
Really enjoy playing here, except it felt like I was playing on a building site, and this has lasted for years!! It will be brilliant one day!!
Great in places
Such a shame as I can see the potential in this course. They are currently redesigning the course towards the back nine so not ideal to play on a building site (which the pro forgot to mention). Most holes offer interest and make you think about shot selection. There are too many PAR 3’s hopefully this will be addressed with the course redesign. Tee’s and Fairways were fantastic! Unfortunately 90% of the greens are just awful and I’m worried this will take time to address. They were lacking grass and even the holes were not level with the green which meant a dome effect around them. It ruined my game which is such a shame and at £30 a round was not good value for money. I fear this might take two years to resolve but I hope I’m wrong…
Dreadful course
Greens poor fairways poor pace of play poor - do not bother
When most are closed, grateful here was open.
Whilst not in the best condition, it was playable and good to have a change of scenery.....
A few mats to play off of and a few shorter holes....
When it's cold and damp, It makes the holes a little easier.
Still can not par hole 14 after about 5 attempts, tough but good hole there....
Damp in areas, ball didn't plug, greens were lumpy but had good speed, I didn't expect to hole too much from distance.
Well worth a visit just for a different location.
Staff in the pro shop, friendly as was the starter..
Some cracking short par 3s and 4s, reachable in 2 par 5s, always enjoy my rounds here... Many thanks.
Very wet
The course had suffered from bad weather which made a very good course not that enjoyable, played it during the summer months and it’s brilliant, was very surprised the course was still open at the time as many local courses had shut and after playing the first couple holes I felt it should have been shut,
Lovely surprise on boxing day!
Played here as down this way for the holidays. Pro shop is great for its size (bought a new stand bag as needed one!). The course was wet, but given how much rain fell on Xmas day I doubt there was a course on the country that wasn't soaked.
Some really great holes which make fantastic use of the natural landscape to challenge the golfer. I played with my wife who is good, but not a long hitter and the course doesn't beat you into the ground with its length if you play the reds. Good length between tee box's.
It's beautiful. Some fantastic vistas. Wasn't busy (but is winter......).
Great value for money. Didn't use the clubhouse as it was closed (boxing day). Look forward to revisiting in summer!
Play here
We had a great start to the round in the pro shop. The member of staff was really friendly and also offered us the opportunity to tee off early.
The course was in great nick with the greens true and relatively quick compared to other courses I’ve played recently. Be prepared to have a long walk as there is some fairly long holes up and down hills with some walks between greens and the next tee which could be difficult in inclement weather.
The course is having some work done to cart paths ready for the winter which was great to see but these works never affected our round.
To add to this views were fantastic due to great weather and the added bonus of plenty of wildlife around.
All in all a fantastic round - shame my scoring wasn’t equal
