Slow
Course is nice, tee boxes need attention though.
Unfortunately the pace of play would put me off playing again anytime soon.
Thoroughly enjoyed
Loved the course lay out. Greens and course in good condition. Bar/restaurant nice also.
Great challenge
What a great layout. Some of the holes are thoughtfully designed to test all aspects of your game. Club selection off the tee took some consideration. Dog legs were cleverly planned with position rather than length the priority.
Although the greens had been top dressed recently, they were still quick with delicte borrows. This course is a great test.
Well Presented and a Good Challenge
The Meon Course was in very good condition and nicely presented throughout. It offers a decent challenge without being overly punishing, making for an enjoyable and rewarding round. A well-maintained course that I would happily play again.
Penal rough
A nice course, tight driving on the opening nine, The back nine was more open but position was still key. Fairways in good condition for spring and greens just getting over their initial spring dressing. Another couple of weeks and they should be really good. We played the course as a relatively easy starter course going into a weekend of golf. Well priced at £25. We were early so ate in the bar - sandwich choice was limited, but the filling was tasty, a bit overpriced but okay. Allowed to tee off about 15 minutes be for the booked time which worked well for us. Held up a little by a 4 ball playing a Texas scramble, speed of play really was dictated by their ability to hole putts! Not too much of an issue though generally. A two ball taking 4:15 to complete 18 was okay on what is a resort course. One issue however was the penal rough, if you found this the chances were your ball was lost, time wasted in searching was frustrating, especially for one of us. That aside a fair test and enjoyable afternoon
Meon Valley
The course was very interesting layout and a good challenge. Booked 9:30 tee time to be told we had been slotted into 9:56 slot. The course also had a number of temporary greens which was not mentioned by staff. Disappointing as we still paid what appears full green fee.
Dropped off slightly
I have played this course many times when it was owned by Marriot but has since not been kept quite as well.
The layout is great and is a challenging course. To get a round for £25 is good value anywhere at the moment
Fantastic!!!
First time playing the meon course, it did not disappoint.
A few challenging holes, a few easy holes. Great course, definitely will be playing again.
Excellent Condition
This course was in an excellent condition and played really well.
Greens were lightning fast
Grass tee boxes in excellent condition would highly recommend
Good Course, Very Enjoyable Round
The course was in very good condition apart from a few flooded bunkers. It was an enjoyable test. A challenging though perfectly playable and fair course which rewards good shots and sensible planning for shot selection and punishes poor ones without being unplayable. The pace of play for a Saturday afternoon was very good (maybe on account of an England football match being on live tv at the same time -:) A fourball of teenagers sportingly waved me through on the third tee as they clearly wanted to take their time. Good to see such etiquette on the course. It doesn't happen everywhere!
Great course. Excellent conditions
Course and starter fantastic. They ensured we got on at right time. Was busy but no hold ups. Halfway through game my pals battery for his buggy ran out. The starter (mr friendly Scotsman) went off picked up spare battery and delivered it to us. Perfect customer service.
Meon with friends
Great course very challenging in good condition
Greens excellent staff friendly and helpful
Sone of the trees are big and make the ted off and fairways tight
Great Course (Valley Course) good value
Great course, greens fantastic ball rolled true, lush & Green.. if only players would repair their pitch marks 👎😞. Fairways & Tees great, chipping around greens, difficult due to dry conditions. Only downside on Course, No hole maps, no idea where to go, buy a yardage chart £10 !!!!
Personal Issue… I’m a Blue Badge Holder, can only play with use of a Buggy, only received small discount, bit Mean
Overall, Great Course and facilities… 8/10
Pace of play
A group of 6 were playing in front of us and they didn’t allow play through.
A lack of course official made it for a very slow and frustrating round, waiting at every tee/hole for them to finish, so much so, we didn’t complete the round as it became dark. Very disappointed.
Not like it once was
I played this course over ten years ago on a regular basis while owned by Whitbread when the course and facilities were excellent unfortunately the course has not been maintained at it was under the Whitbread ownership which is a shame as it is a very good course layout. Clearly investment in the course is not what it once was when they had a great greenkeeper team.
Meon not so magical
The layout is excellent but the maintenance not so. Fairways are not irrigated and suffer in a number of areas. This said the greens were very good and showed the class this course has history for. Maintenance appears to be an issue which is a great shame.with reservations I would recommend to others.
I completely agree with your review.
