Dropped off slightly
I have played this course many times when it was owned by Marriot but has since not been kept quite as well.
The layout is great and is a challenging course. To get a round for £25 is good value anywhere at the moment
Fantastic!!!
First time playing the meon course, it did not disappoint.
A few challenging holes, a few easy holes. Great course, definitely will be playing again.
Excellent Condition
This course was in an excellent condition and played really well.
Greens were lightning fast
Grass tee boxes in excellent condition would highly recommend
Good Course, Very Enjoyable Round
The course was in very good condition apart from a few flooded bunkers. It was an enjoyable test. A challenging though perfectly playable and fair course which rewards good shots and sensible planning for shot selection and punishes poor ones without being unplayable. The pace of play for a Saturday afternoon was very good (maybe on account of an England football match being on live tv at the same time -:) A fourball of teenagers sportingly waved me through on the third tee as they clearly wanted to take their time. Good to see such etiquette on the course. It doesn't happen everywhere!
Great course. Excellent conditions
Course and starter fantastic. They ensured we got on at right time. Was busy but no hold ups. Halfway through game my pals battery for his buggy ran out. The starter (mr friendly Scotsman) went off picked up spare battery and delivered it to us. Perfect customer service.
Meon with friends
Great course very challenging in good condition
Greens excellent staff friendly and helpful
Sone of the trees are big and make the ted off and fairways tight
Great Course (Valley Course) good value
Great course, greens fantastic ball rolled true, lush & Green.. if only players would repair their pitch marks 👎😞. Fairways & Tees great, chipping around greens, difficult due to dry conditions. Only downside on Course, No hole maps, no idea where to go, buy a yardage chart £10 !!!!
Personal Issue… I’m a Blue Badge Holder, can only play with use of a Buggy, only received small discount, bit Mean
Overall, Great Course and facilities… 8/10
Pace of play
A group of 6 were playing in front of us and they didn’t allow play through.
A lack of course official made it for a very slow and frustrating round, waiting at every tee/hole for them to finish, so much so, we didn’t complete the round as it became dark. Very disappointed.
Not like it once was
I played this course over ten years ago on a regular basis while owned by Whitbread when the course and facilities were excellent unfortunately the course has not been maintained at it was under the Whitbread ownership which is a shame as it is a very good course layout. Clearly investment in the course is not what it once was when they had a great greenkeeper team.
Meon not so magical
The layout is excellent but the maintenance not so. Fairways are not irrigated and suffer in a number of areas. This said the greens were very good and showed the class this course has history for. Maintenance appears to be an issue which is a great shame.with reservations I would recommend to others.
Great Course at Great Price
Course was in great condition and we were astonished that it was so quiet with only us an two others playing.
Simply fantastic value and off the whites a real test of golf
Meon valley
Great course
Very challenging but great fun with every hole making you think
Fairways narrow so you need to pick your line and the hazards are waiting for you
Meon Valley
Great course to play and greens and fairways were in excellent condition. Would definitely look to play it again when visiting the area again.
Really friendly
The steward at the first tee was excellent! Very helpful and friendly and managed to fit us in early. The course was lovely and in great condition. Play was quite slow we had to stop after 9, but will go back again.
Great condition
This course is in great condition and to be honest the only course in the area that is worth the money. There is quite a few dog legs left and right so not hitting driver all the time.
Not bad
Nice round of golf, held up from the 13 th for some reason not sure if people joined on the 10th and cut in?
Tee boxes need a bit of care.
You will need a mortgage if you want a beer afterwards though, £12.50 for 2 pints of Guinness. That’s a bit steep.
Course Great but Pro Shop Not So
I booked a 1212 tee time with GolfNow - No problem. Arrived at course to be told our tee time had been bumped to 1430. No explanation. Ooops, Sorry. One of our team should have phoned to tell you. I told them no communication of any sort received. Shoulder shrug and begrudgingly said they could fit us in at 1300 when I said the three of us had travelled a long way to play. Asked what they expected us to do with the next 1.5 hours, they offered us a range token each for 25 balls (yeah right, like 25 balls is going to last that long.). We did the range and putting green (which is right by the first tee.) No-one appeared to turn up for the tee time before us so off we went. Course was great but we didn't see anyone behind us through the round so Lord knows how many empty tee times there were behind us (and we weren't particularly quick).
I have talked to members and others who have played here and they say it happens all the time. The course cancels and shifts tee times regularly to give the hotel guests priority. I would suggest you seriously consider this if you intend to play this course (especially if you have travelled a large distance to play)
I was unimpressed by the 'Am I Bothered' attitude in the Pro Shop and their wholly unacceptable attempt to make things right.
You moan about the attitude of the people who work there but then rate the staff friendliness as fair? Bit odd!
I completely agree with your review.
