Below Par
I have played this course countless times in the past and even been a member. I was disappointed at the overall condition of the course. Greens were in poor condition, likely due to maintenance, however that should be reflected in the green fee. Tee boxes were unkempt and around the greens generally quite poor conditions. I paid £29, in this condition I feel that was excessive, worth no more than £22 in my opinion. This course can be really enjoyable, however not for this price in these conditions.
East Horton
Championship rated course, it was woeful.
Fairways in awful condition, greens even worse, no place to place tees
To wet to play
Course was open, fairways only half mown. Rough so thick it was like a US open course. Green in good condition and rolling true. Took 5 hours as 2 ball! The 2 ball in front were so slow not letting people through, throwing clubs and bags (which was entertaining!), not playing off the winter tee boxes and stopping for instagram picture every 2 minutes.
Greens better than fairways
After the long wet winter we've had the greens were in good condition. The fairways not so much, having played at a number of courses locally over the past month or so this would be one of the wettest locally.
What a terrible course should have been closed there were points where my golf shoes were completely submerged in what can be described as a bog. Balls were completely disappearing into the ground was very disappointed with the Greenwood course. There was no Map I’m back of Card and no clear indication on which way to move to the next hole absolutely ruined mine and my friends round which Wehave been looking forward to all week very disappointing
New Years eve
Good course and good value for money. Sadly was very foggy on the day so didn’t get to see it in all its glory
Not bad
Course itself is okay. Condition so so. Staff not so friendly
One of the best golf courses
Stunning course, quirky holes, ranging from drivable par 4s, beautiful par 3, fantastic views from high tee boxes, and a fun and challenging course. East Horton Greenwood course is one of my favourites in the area.
Challenging course
Played in completely baked out conditions the course was quite a challenge. Very up and down but some interesting holes. A bit of love (and yes some rain) and this would be an excellent venue.
A tough challenge in baked conditions
Having travelled from much further north I was surprised by how hard and dry the course was compared to any other I’ve played recently. Greens were decent, tee boxes were really suffering and fairways were also struggling. The course is very hilly and a tough challenge but in these conditions very difficult to find and hold fairways and greens. Not the green keepers fault of course but I get the feeling the overall standard is always a little below what would be expected for the price. Bunkers were not raked at all by anyone by the looks of it so perhaps the members are not that supportive of the green keeping staff.
Windy, but Good Little Course
First time playing here and the course is definitely wider and more forgiving then the Parkland course on the other side. Approach shots here are more difficult with pin placements and undulation on the greens. I personal think pin position is the only thing that was letting down the round for me. Fairways were great and even if you are in the tree lines, you still have a shot which is nice, and you will find it.
greenwood
all was good except the speed of the buggy , was extremely slow , we phoned the pro shop to see if they could replace and was told they had slowed them all down due to accidents which i understand but feel they were slowed down far too much as it struggles to get up the big hill
TLC Required
Played this course a lot over the year and it has matured nicely, however some work is required on the tee boxes, greens and bunkers.
Very few of the bunkers have sand and those that do it appears to be about 1-2cm deep. This doesn’t allow for proper bunker shots and actually lead to me jarring my wrist trying to play a shot.
I do enjoy playing the course and the bar on the 18th green is really good now and staff always friendly.
