Excellent course. Odd layout
Tee boxes, fairways and greens were all exceptional and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
We got a little lost walking from the 12th green to the 13th, ending up playing hole 11 again...oopsy!
We'll absolutely play here again soon, and can highly recommend Styal GC.
Almost forgot to mention the kindness of the gentleman serving at the bar. He remembered us visiting a few weeks ago, and remembered my crippled hands, offering to carry our drinks outside. Top marks and genuinely appreciated. A lovely and unexpected gesture.
Thank you!
Was a lovley couse with lovley ppl carnt wait to play again
Well sign posted flat course
I'm getting a little older now and the course is pretty flat, well sign posted and looked after. The starter on this particular day was really friendly. Good day out part from a little bunching up in places but it was morning and a glorious day.

Enjoyable course, only spoilt a four-ball in front who wouldn't let me play through, very poor etiquette in my opinion
Always love playing at styal
Great course and nice new buggies
Not a long course so an ennoble round rather an endurance test. Sufficiently challenging that rewards accuracy but punishes wayward shots.
Great course 👍
Nice course in good condition and nice friendly club house 👍
Not what it used to be
It’s a shame because it has a few nice holes. The course has been affected by all the weather. On top of this it’s not been maintained well. There was approx two weeks of steady weather and the fairways were bouncing nicely - they still hadn’t maintained the course. Half of the fairways were cut for some reason, the greens didn’t seem like they’d been tended to. I played mottram hall a few days later and that was in much better Knick. A shame.
Super wet fairways
The day before and the tee off day were sunny. I was informed only 15 holes in play and wet fairways. Not surprised to me! I had experienced of hitting golf in wet fairway but never thought so worst. I was hardly to find a dry path to approach my ball during the whole game. I saw excess water was unable to penetrate into the ground and a new pond was added in hole 8, Besides, it was quite exhausting for walking to hole 9’and 10. Layout of the course is good for fresh golfer because no up and down hilly fairway.
shouldnt have been open
course was very wet, too wet to be able to play a round to be honest. needs a month of no rain for it to be playable
greens were the only part of the course not completely soaked
played many times before but never been that bad, doesnt seem like the drainage if any is working
Not worth playing in winter
Arrived at the course to be told at four of the holes are closed, and it was mandatory to use a mat on the fairway and the rough!
Course was incredibly waterlogged on every hole to the point that bowls were plugging on virtually every shot and hard to find.
I thought I’d give styal another chance as it was in poor condition. Last time I played a few years ago. Will not be playing here again and do not recommend this course even in the summer. It’s fairly boring and Flat.
An extremely wet course in October
Having booked the round two days before and the weather looking good, we were looking forward to the day.
£25 for Monday morning seemed a little high but having played the course in the summer we were prepared to pay it.
When we arrived we were told that the course was just about playable. Large areas of the course were very wet and in some places a quagmire. What we hadn’t been told was that holes 14,15 and 16 were in fact closed. We ploughed our way round, mud splattered and manage to finish in four hours (minus the two holes).
It was disappointing to pay £25 and not to be told in advance that there were hole closures. Needless to say we won’t play a Styal again beyond the end of September.
I would recommend the course but not between September and March.
