Disappointing
So let down with this round of golf. Having played here before a few times, the course is normally really nice one to play. This time, however, was very disappointing. Having paid the full price of £30, I turned up to be told there was a little bit of drainage work being done to one or two greens and maybe a tee or two. What ensued was a round where the tees were poor, the fairways rough,16 out of 18 greens were temporary and the two greens that were in play was so heavily tined that they were worse than the temporary ones, which was saying something considering they were full of divots, burrowings, leaves, twigs, acorns and they were not flattened in any way shape or form. I understand the need for drainage and course management at this time of year, but to not be told and the website to say the course was fully open, and then to charge full price…. Not great, Alsager.😡
Excellent course
1st time playing this course, excellent course in excellent condition and great lay out, staff really friendly too, will definitely play again.
Great open course and well looked after over winter
Really enjoyable course to play, the back 9 are a nice change with some more challenging inclines. Well looked after over winter and all greens were open.
We went to see if we liked it enough to become a member which we ended up doing
Barely moved on in 25 years
I was a member here as a junior a long time ago and I was looking forward to playing there again. Sadly, it didn’t start well. On arrival, we found they had not only double booked out tee time, but that the back nine was closed entirely. While I can’t blame the club for the weather, it feels a bit much to charge full price to do the front 9 twice. As we were squeezed in between two 4-balls, there was plenty of waiting too.
Most disappointingly of all though, was that the old atmosphere of fussy rules, rows of pictures of old men in blazers and displays showing ‘correct attire’ still pervades.
The course was barely changed too. The front 9 holes feel really cramped together, especially compared to other local courses charging similar green fees.
Won’t bother again
Excellent condition
The course was in excellent condition tee to green. Offering a variety of different holes.
Alsager
Overall a good experience tees close to greens on some holes
Nice course
We arrived at the course nice warm day with a good breeze
Club shop very helpful.
Course was in good condition fairways was being cut as we played green in good condition not to fast to be honest
Only problem we found was the course could do with better markings for where the next hole was had to ask a couple of times .
But a very nice course
We ate in the club house good food and a great pint of Guinness . Staff was excellent
We will play this course again
You have to play this course
If i loved closer i would join. What a great and forendly golf club
Only marked it down because of the contrived par 3 at the top of the hill-Is it worth trekking up there to play it? Members seem to miss it out and play to the lower green then cut across.
Great view from the top though.
Getting to like it
I'm getting to like this course. I used to hate it but is challenging but in very good condition. I'd love to get a good front 9 though. Lol
None of the clubhouse or shop are open around the 16.00 Mark so obtaining a card is impossible unless you go early in the day.
Great condition
Greens are in great condition
Course is playing well. Would be unbeatable course around Staffordshire without the 14th hole, which results in a par 3 15th of no more than 70 yard chip. Apart from that super course.
2 stunning tee off shots on the 13th and 16th
An hidden gem
Very enjoyable round of golf on a quiet yet damp Sunday afternoon. Although wet all bar 2 greens were open and played true. Beware some steep hills on holes 14 -16 but down ward ones make your driving feel impressive. Definitely go back
First time at Alsager
Played with my son, really friendly Pro was very welcoming. Course was in great nick and very challenging. Would definitely play here again!
Alsager - A course with a view
Excellent course with spectacular views, hence there are a couple of fairly steep climbs. Fairways & greens were in great condition though the bunkers weren't so good, the rain downfall the previous day probably didn't help. I will definitely play this course again.
