One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Great deal for a great course
Got one of the hot deals for an afternoon round and had a great time. These were definitely the best greens I’ve seen recently. They were pretty firm but rolled pretty good. I would definitely play this course again.
Excellent Course and Good Value
This course was in great condition and the greens were some of the nicest I’ve seen in the DFW area. Really like the layout. It’s a little tight in spots but is a fun challenge. Can’t wait to come play here again.

A Refreshing Round on a Reasonable Course
I was visiting the Dallas area from Florida. My son, who lives in McKinney and my cousin from Ft. Worth all met up for a morning round. Although the course was still a little muddy from all the recent rains, it was in very good condition. The greens were fantastic, smooth and quick, just like I like them. The tee boxes were good and offered a variety of distances. Although the course is not real long, it is tight on certain holes and provides a reasonable challenge for golfers of all skill levels. The pro shop staff was very friendly and helpful. I will look to play Pecan Hollow again next time I visit my son. Our thanks to the entire course staff!
Great bang for your buck
Great course, greens/tees/fairways all in good shape. Cart girl could’ve made more appearances and more options for drinks. Very forgiving course. Overall would recommend and definitely would play again
Definitely will not come back I’ll pay more to avoid the terrible pro shop selection and utterly rude employees. It could be a gem for the price but they made it trash.
Pro shop employee was incredibly rude (not sure if he was the pro or not) did not answer any of my questions and seemed bothered I was in there. Literally said 2 words and I was asking him about the course etc. just simple small talk for 2 min. Just rolled his eyes and said”I don’t know” asked him about balls they carried and didn’t look away from his screen and just pointed to the right without a word.
On that note They only carry Callaway balls and no top line balls at all. I asked him about this and if I was mistaken he said “Idk what does it look like we carry?”
After I pay (price was excellent btw) I go to get cart and they’re announcing me over the intercom to get to the tee box. Guy yells my name and says “Lets go! You will lose your time!” This is 10 min before my tee time and I was not the only group they did this too fyi.
I was not happy and my tee time is still 10 min out so what the is the hurry? Once I get to the first tee box it’s backed up with a group of 4 so was extremely rude and unnecessary.
My wife was waiting in line for drinks and rushed to the cart due to this so we had no beverages or water either. They then close down the inside at 5:30 when we tried to go back and my tee time was 5:12 mind you. This is insane and if there’s no other tee times by 5:30 why are they rushing people over the intercom?
