One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Condition
Pecan Hollow is the best public course in the area.
Conditions are very good and greens in great shape. My favorite course in the metroplex,

Great course
Enjoyed the course. I have been wanting to go play a round and it was great. Range, putting, chipping green condition was great! The course was great fairways were well taken care of as well as the greens. Would definitely play here again.
Always good
Some times it can be very busy and slow but the round was on pace and very fun. Despite hot summer conditions, greens rolled and were difficult. Heard they are going to punch soon though. Will be back soon of course!
Great Course! Great Staff!
One small annoyance: on the turn, a threesome jumped in front of us. That would have been fine but they were new golfers who did not know proper golf etiquette. When they would duff, they would take two or three mulligans. They drove their carts in restricted areas where the course was working hard to restore. Finally, they would sit on a tee box or in the middle of the fairway just shooting the breeze. I timed them one time and they talked for seven minutes before the first one tee'ed off.
We thought they were waiting on groups in front of them, because we could not see in front of them. When we could finally see that the course was wide open in front of them, we asked the marshal to speak with them. He did and they moved on. But on the last two holes, with the marshal long gone by then, they resorted back to their slow pace.
Great Muni
Great course got a great press. I believe we paid about $55 apiece on GolfNow compared to the surrounding courses. That was an excellent price. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The only issue we had all day was the group behind us hit into us a few times on purpose, no Marshall insite. We let them know where to turn and it didn’t happen again would definitely go back.
Excellent course, beautiful, exceptional value.
My son and I played this course for the first time yesterday and have already made another tee time for next weekend. The course is meticulously well groomed and beautiful, even in the midst of weeks of 100°+ days in August. Greens were lush, tee boxes were perfect. The holes are laid out in a way to make for a very fun round with very very very minimal chances for frustration. An amazing experience, we were planning our next round before we even left the parking lot. Super friendly clubhouse associates, ample opportunities to get snacks or drinks from the on-course attendant. A+.

Hot -but had a great time. Course is in good shape. Plenty of cold water and cart cold beverages.
