One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Excellent
Great pace of play, the greens and fairways were in great shape even with the heat wave.
If only it was closer to the ocean
Hot -but had a great time. Course is in good shape. Plenty of cold water and cart cold beverages.

Combo course
Nice course, well maintained. A nice combo of links style and some mature trees. Not alot of water hazards. A good knowledge of the course would help to score well.
Slow pace of play but well worth
It was a wonderful weather day but had some intense backup on the front 9 even though it seemed everyone i talked to started 10-30 minutes early including myself. Back 9 it opened up a bit and was very nice

Wow!. Very picturesque. Great practice areas, great value. Marshal does a great job starting you.
Bring water
Ridiculous that they do not keep the water jugs full. Their lame excuse is the water jugs are locked and the maintenance crew has the keys. Someone is going to have a heat stroke this summer and the city should be held liable.
Among the Best Greens in the DFW Metroplex
Got up early to squeeze in a round right about dawn. Finished in 3 hours and enjoyed the outstanding course conditions, which are consistently up there with the best public courses in the DFW Metroplex. Please keep up the marvelous care of the course, Pecan Hollow!
