About
One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Golfer Reviews
Slow Slow Slow..5 Hrs
Well tee time on Sunday at 10:00... already 30 min behind. Starter has no clue what he is doing. Also, they turn away singles on the weekend, so if you golf alone (I do 50% of the time) no room for you here. Cart girl was nice, only thing to cheer up the 5 hr round.
Pace
Pace is always slow. Popular course - need to spread out t-times.
Pace of Play
Worst pace of play I have ever experienced on a golf course. Love the course but there were 4 groups on each hole at a time, so it ruined the overall experience
Slow play
Two groups in front were slowest i have ever seen in 35 years of playing. Two-some had nowhere to go but to nap between holes. Awful! 5 hours and 15 mins.
Tee boxes lost
With the exception of grass loss on tee boxes and a few areas of the course Pecan Hollow is always in good shape; greens are in great shape and the layout is competitive
Fun
Not only were our playing partners cool, u really enjoyed the course. Greens were challenging though.
Green Grass
Pecan Hollow actually had green grass to play on March 30th! It was so nice to play on green grass. I haven’t played this course in years, but was really impressed with the layout and condition of greens and fairways. I plan to play again soon.
Hard and Dead
I’m assuming the late snow storm killed a lot of the grass but tee boxes, some fairways and most areas around the green are rock hard. Disappointing as I know how great this course can be. Greens where nice but not much to say past that.. Felt $40 (on Golf Now App) was overpriced.
Improving - a ways to go yet
Sewer work by city? Not adding to a positive experience
Oldie but a goodie
Through the years the course had been changed but always a quality outing.. they've done well making the course use all shots and short game is key.
Thank you.
1st time to Pecan Hallow in several years
It's been several years since I've played this course. Overall, course is in good shape. Greens were pretty smooth and rolled straight, very few divots or ball marks. Like other courses around DFW, several of the tee boxes are pretty torn up here. They're definitely getting a lot of play and it's taking it's toll on the tee boxes. Carts with GPS is a nice touch.
