One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

The best greens in DFW or mighty close.
The difficulty of making a tee time for a single has made it ridiculous for me to play here. It is no fun when they take your favorite course away just because you are a single.
Great Municipal Layout
Want to play a well-kept course, that has length as its defense? This one is it.
Horrible Greens
They probably have the worst greens in DFW at the moment.
Great Course - Slow Play
We had a foursome back us and the other two groups behind us on every hole. Didn’t see anyone to help enforce pace of play. Other than that it was an excellent track and I definitely will be adding it to my weekly rotation.
Overbooked on Fridays and weekends
Stuck behind a 10 cart bachelor party scramble. Couldn’t even finish 9. Left a voicemail with mgmt and got no response. Went around the bachelor party and the back was packed too.
Solid Course
always like playing here. Only thing keeping this from being a 5 star round is that the greens were punch last week. Will be back to my standard 5 star rating by the end of the month. Fairways and tee boxes are in great shape. Cart girl was pleasant and helpful. We will be back.
Wait
Wait until September to play Pecan Hollow. We play there for the usual great greens but recent aeration made them awful.
Beautiful Municipal Course
Great course. Good Layout. Pace was fine. Please note - they just punched and sanded the greens 8-1-20. This made it very difficult to get a true putt of any kind. This is neccessary and will make them much better in the long run; just be advised. Makes it tough to play a true round right now.
