About
One of the first courses in the growing 1970s Plano community, Pecan Hollow started out as the Plano Municipal Golf Course. Don January and Billy Martindale, who had recently completed their signature Royal Oaks in Dallas, contracted with the city to help provide golf for Plano’s growing population.
The terrain here is flat, and the fairways are mostly wide open. January used the standard bunkers, water hazards, and trees in his design to cause problems for the golfer. The greens are of medium size and speed, and the course is basically pretty standard until you reach the punishing final stretch of holes. Nos. 16-18 are all 445-yard-plus par 4s with water in play–one of the toughest tests of golf in the DFW area.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Parkway east, then exit at 14th St. Turn right, drive a short distance to the course, and look for the entrance on the left side of the street.

Golfer Reviews
Some play slow
We had an 8-some 3 groups in front of us, and the 2 groups behind them were playing till everyone holed out.
This equals very very slow play.
Called the front office twice to get the marshal out to warn them but no one came out.
Hidden gem
Staff was super nice even though we’re all dealing with Covid 19. Fairways were thin, due to winter, but does make your drives go longer when you hit them. Sand traps were immaculate. I’d play this course ever week if I didn’t live 50 miles from it. Lol
Very Nice Muni
Plano has done a great job of keeping the course in shape for Winter play. Greens were bit fast for our taste, but rolled vey smoothly. Will definitely play again.
Great value, condition and staff
Simply one of the best values around. The course is in great condition, the staff is super friendly and the rates are reasonable. Will continue to go back!
Course is ok, pace of play horrendous
First time playing here, the staff wasn’t too friendly. Pro shop sounded put off when calling to make the tee time and then even more put off when checking in. Course condition was decent, tee boxes weren’t torn up, fairway mowed and maintained, and the greens rolled fast. Layout of the course is nothing special, played pretty short from the mid back tees. Each hole was pretty open with very few holes having serious hazards. Pretty forgiving course for missed shots. Pace of play was absolutely horrendous. At one point we had 7 groups backed up waiting on one hole, and the group behind hit onto us several times while we were waiting for the group in front of us to move. Practice facilities are nice though. For the price, and the fact they require a 2 person minimum to book a time I wouldn’t come back. Plenty of better courses in the area that offer more bang for your buck.
Nice Course
The greens were in excellent shape. Nice course layout.
Pace of play was really slow.
Shared carts - Not proper social distancing procedures
When I checked in, I was told I had to share a cart. I don't see how this is social distancing when I'm sharing and sitting next to someone I don't know. I opted to walk rather than share a cart.
All the other courses I've been playing during the pandemic have allowed one player per cart.
Course is also very busy and I had to wait between shots.
