Everything is perfect
We have played The Astbury four times now, early winter, early spring and now twice in this great weather.. Beautifully manicured, challenging at times, and wonderful scenery. Always a great welcome and chat in the pro shop, all staff and management in particular take time to talk. I could sit on the terrace watching folk tee off the 10th and come in to the amazing par 3 18th all afternoon. Love it.
Nice hot day!!
Lovely course, can't really fault it for the price. Only problem was there was a golf society playing, so got to the 10th and everything just got backed up behind them. Took over 2+ hours to play the back nine!!! Very annoying on such a hot day to wait 15 minutes to tee off...
I like it alot.
Beautiful modern course, greens receptive and fast.
Absolute gem!
Booked an afternoon tee time for 2 oclock and it was a nice day, warm and sunny. I played the day after day light savings so sunset was around half 7, plenty of time for a full 18. I thought others would have the same idea as me but no, i got there and i was the only one on the course, millionaires golf is what they call it. Fairways were great, rough was punishing enough but not so long that you couldnt find your ball. Greens were fantastic nice pace, not too quick but not slow, some greens were being treated at the time, i think maybe 6 or 7 out of 18 had sand etc on them. After theres a nice little bar and terrace for a pint looking over the 18th green and the 10th tee, cant go wrong, didnt try any food this time but i will next time. All this for £25, absolute steal.
Great course
Very well kept course, mint fairways and pure greens will definitely be visiting again
Greens Excellent
In spite of biblical weather lately the greens were exceptional and whilst the course was very wet in places overall totally playable and very enjoyable
Beautiful course in the making
The course is relatively new but the materials used are of the best quality and this course will be one to play in the future!
Boggy and slow otherwise very good
Course was very boggy and balls we’re getting very difficult to find even on the fairways. Unfortunately it was also quite a slow round 4.5 hrs plus which never helps otherwise would have been a great experience to play somewhere very different and upmarket
Returning every summer from now on .
Always rated this course for great greens . I was not disappointed as you can see from my quick snap at the quality of this course. I will be returning every summer for a round if I'm available to . Was not the best of weather the day before but the course held up very well .
First visit to Astbury
The course is well maintained with some interesting holes still has the appearance and look of a new course. The sand in the bunkers is the best I’ve seen in a long time. The course will improve as it matures. More signage for visitors is needed for example to find the first tee. No bar available for after the round a halfway hut serving bottled drinks was okay as the weather was good to sit outside but £20 for 4 drinks was pricey. Overall a good day at Astbury
first time Astbury
Very impressed with the course, nice layout, good fairways and greens, and a fair test of my golf off 13. not many on the course which is a shame for a quality set up like this. only slight issues were the gold tees were quite a way forward, making some of the holes a less challenge, and no food available. I would play again.
Beautiful course
All respect to the groundskeepers at the Astbury. While so many courses have suffered because of the hot summer, conditions here couldn’t have been better.
The fairways were immaculate and even though the greens were tined they still played very well.
Such a shame the course is closing shortly for 2 years for a major development of the surrounding land.
Proper Golf Course
Having seen this course on Piers and Andy's Youtube show and seen the course on Golfnow previously, a day off work allowed me the opportunity to play this course eventually. My expectations were high of a quality course and often high expectations lead to disappointment, not the case here, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to The Astbury.
The approach to the club house is impressive and the welcome at the club house was spot on. The clubhouse is quite impressive and has excellent views of the course and surrounding area.
The course was in excellent condition, many courses have suffered due to the lack of rain but The Astbury was in excellent condition, lovely fairways, quickish greens that held a good approach, rough can be punishing but not so bad that you lose your ball. The greens are quite tricky but very interesting. Fairways are also in excellent condition. The bunkers I found allowed for proper shots.
The majority of holes are interesting and challenging in some way, a couple of blind drives, one or two big drives required and also plenty of thinking golfers holes. The course has several tee boxes and the day we played I think the Tees were mostly quite generous, could have been a little longer, although the black tees must set quite a challenge.
I can never see the course being at tour level due mostly to the lack of place for spectators but for the Golfer this could very easily be a tour level course and from my mind has the quality. A proper golf course that stands out from most of the courses in the area including my home course which is not far away.
This is not the last time I will play this course and if anyone was visiting the area to play I would recommend this course be very high on their list to visit.
apologise for the remark, but couldn't you just leave it at lovely course? You cant really moan about slow play caused by a golf society. You actually focussed more on a problem that wasnt the fault of the golf course
