The Club at Los Rios
About
The Club at Los Rios opened in the early 1970s with a Don January and Billy Martindale design that takes advantage of eight small ponds and a creek that winds through the layout.
Water is in play on over half of the holes, including the opening 485-yard par 5 that features two ponds in play off the tee, and another fronting the green.
Two very difficult holes stand out on this narrow, shot-maker’s course. No. 7 goes 431 yards but allows for a huge tee shot with a generous fairway, which will definitely help on the dicey approach over the creek into a shallow green. On the par 5 No. 14, water crosses the fairway three times from the back tees.
Getting there : From I-75 north, take Plano Pkwy. east until it dead ends at Los Rios Blvd. Turn left onto Los Rios Blvd. And continue on for 1 mile to Country Club Dr. Turn right and drive a short distance to the course–look for the entrance on the right side of the street.

Never again
Very slow pace of play and the marshals did nothing about it. One of the staff had a dog that they let run all over the practice area and first hole. Driving range is limited to 220 yds. No buckets by the ball machine. Saw multiple five-somes on the course.
Course itself is okay - grass is green, no bunkers and A TON of standing water. Loudspeaker from the pro shop is much too loud and can be heard throughout the whole course. This happened to be one of a handful of courses with tee times open before 9 on this particular day. I'd rather sit through intense heat at a nicer and better managed course.
incompetent pro shop
My first time to play los rios. Got out of work early on a Friday, booked a 1:20pm solo tee time, pro shop guy sent me off on #10 ... I played with another single and we're behind a good paced foursome. We finished #18 and rounded the turn to #1 to be greeted by the 4 some we were behind waiting on a new foursome teeing off, with 2 new foursomes behind them! We were now all of a sudden behind 16 golfers as we attempted to make the turn. I went in to ask the pro shop for an explanation and requested a rain check on my back nine. They told me they "don't really do that." I asked him if he was sending people off #1 and #10 and he replied, "well, yes, they had a tee time and right of way goes to foursomes." I guess my golfnow.com tee time was irrelevant. Regardless, I'll never give my business to this boring course again. Don't waste your time or money at Los rios.
Good value
Traditional course layout in good condition. Mostly straight holes, flat course. Few sand bunkers. Lots of water, but not too much in play. Bermuda greens roll a little slow, but true. Holes #17 and #18 are LONG.
Good course for the money
Course is in good shape - far better than the fees paid. Greens consistent.
Tougher then it looks
Fun and reliable course that plays tougher the it looks.
Will go back when I am in Plano again
challenging course in good condition
Played starting mid morning and finished in 3 hours. Course was in good condition. Fairways were really nice and greens were pretty good for Bermuda. They had recently been punched and sanded, but we're getting better. Overall, it was a good round , and I look forward to going back.
Poor Green Shape
They had recently punched so not their fault. The course signage needs massive updating.
Improved Greens
We played Los Rios 2 months ago and some of the greens were not in very good shape . The greens on Sunday (8/3) were all in great shape. A few tee boxes still need some time to fill in but overall the coarse looked good.
Course has poor drainage
If it rains a few days before u play. Forget about it. 4-5 fairways on this course was soaked , extremely muddy with unplayable conditions. Greens were in very good shape however
Big differents from the last time I played.
The course is nice... Very nice.
Need a Marshall to keep foursome on track. We passed 3 sets of fours, Had to skip a hole, it took us 5 hours to finish...
Other that that, I'll come back again.
Great value, very underrated
The course itself is in good shape - better than average courses I have played in dfw. While not a long course with no traps some holes can get pretty narrow thanks to some mature oaks. Pace of play here is always super fast as the course is rarely crowded. A definite good value.
Nice course for a great price
I played on a Saturday afternoon with 3 people in my group. We were able to tee off a few minutes before our tee time and the pace of play was great. The fairways were in excellent condition as were the greens. There was a club fitter by the range who put a new grip on my brother's putter and fixed a weight on it as well. Overall it was a good experience and I will play there again. This is an older course and the club house isn't the nicest looking one around but who cares, I was there to golf. I live in North Frisco and it was worth the drive.
Not bad, but not great
Greens were very smooth, best part of the course. Fairways and rough were also pretty nice. The course was a relatively simple design, but did have a few well placed trees. I got a $22.17 tee time, and it was well worth the money.
Not too bad
After reading reviews, I was hesitant to play this course. As it turns out the reviews were overly critical. Nice little course
Good round of golf for the price
When we played it was busy but the pace was good. Minimal wait at the tee boxes. I just wish they had rest rooms in the pro shop instead of steep steps up to the lounge area. Over all a good day of golf
Not busy on holiday weekend
Not sure why this course was not busy on Sat 5th of July. Pace of play was good. Course was in pretty good shape. A few difficult holes but if you manage your shots shouldn't be too rough to play.
sandwiches were awesome!
Los Rios
The course was in great shape, the staff was very helpful and courteous, the greens were well cared for and challenging, and the food we had was of good quality.
I would and will play again.

Excellent Course and Staff
This was a great course to play. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and overall excellent. I will definately be back to play!
Nice, but somewhat challenging - very wet!
We played (my son, his friend, and I) on 6/22/14. Weather was wet, so that was a drawback. Course is well laid out, pretty, good fairways, good greens. Moderately challenging because of much water, particularly on 3 par holes. All in all a very nice place and will almost certainly play it again.
Moderately Challenging
The course was in fair condition. Greens slow fairways even slower.
