Bawburgh Golf Club - 18-Hole Course

Despite the recent weather the course was in good condition

Greens and tees in good condition considering the challenges faced with the dry weather.

Fairways still reasonable and playable.

Would recommend this course to anyone.

Played here recently and overall it’s a very enjoyable golf course. The layout is excellent and a really well-designed track with a good mix of challenging holes, interesting greens, and some beautiful scenery throughout. The course itself was in good condition and you can tell a lot of care goes into maintaining it.

The staff were also fantastic, friendly, welcoming and helpful in the clubhouse which definitely helped the experience.

The only major downside was the pace of play. Our round ended up taking just over 5 hours after we got stuck behind a 4-ball golf society group who unfortunately wouldn’t let our 2-ball play through being told “there is golfers ahead so we can’t let you through”, despite there being clear gaps ahead of them at times. It really slowed the day down and took away from what otherwise would have been a great round.

That said, the course and staff were excellent, hopefully pace of play management can be improved because the venue itself deserves high praise.

Perhaps not as much character as Swaffam, Costessey and Dunston Hall but beautifully presented course with challenging undulations.

The first time I’ve seen a robot mower wandering round the course but watch out as it doesn’t seem to recognise players or bags so stay clear.

Very friendly staff and plenty of parking. Lovely course well set out to minimise walking. Can be slow paced when too many society players don’t let the good players through.

Bawburgh is possibly the most physically challenging course I play. So many ups and downs make you tempted to consider a buggy. Yesterday was hot (15-16 degrees in March) and pretty wind-free meaning the ball went true. It was just our poor golf which spoiled it a bit. The practice green was faster than the actual greens somehow, meaning it took a couple of holes to adjust to the pace. A lot of the brush has been cut back meaning the ball either travelled further or was easier to spot in the trees. We were let through by a young 4-ball and made good progress behind a senior 3-ball who never held us up by more than a minute. As always at Bawburgh we were not looking forward to the hill up from the 18th to the car park but somehow managed it. An enjoyable round.

From arrival at the pro-shop we’re we were greeted by Adam to the service in the bar by Marissa the whole days was great. Course recovering from the recent bad weather but it was in great Nick

Great little course with some Interesting and challenging holes.

Can be very long, but makes you work hard for par!

The range at the family golf center is just up the road.

Great layout, good course conditions challenging and risk/ reward!

Course was in good condition - quite dry and firm on the fairways because of the weather but the greens were brilliant. Quite narrow and hilly with interesting and challenging holes.

A pleasant place to play with excellent greens but spoiled by the fairways which were sparsely grassed. Not helped by a very wet day following a long dry spell.

My charitable self would say the club made a misjudgement. Alternatively I would say they were simply out to maximise revenue with no regard to players.

The club had booked a number of society groups - occasional golfers visiting the course - and the consequence with 8 minute start times was a horribly clogged up course. 9 holes took 2 hours and 40 minutes, waiting on every tee and for every shot.

This was however entirely predictable - if you have 10 or 12 4 balls in visiting groups going out one after another you know there will be delays. there should have been a 30 or 40 minute gap after the last group before selling additional tee times.

A very disappointing experience
