Hoodwinked
Even though we managed to secure a green fee of 30£ each , both my friend and I felt robbed !
The approach to the course via the carpark looked good on first inspection , however as you weave your way around the course you’ll soon begin to realise that you’d been sold a lie !
Almost every tee off point was overun with weed and dirt, the signage faded and in cases unreadable, and we managed to get lost most of the time due to more poor signage . The fairways were dry as expected but the greens patchy.
To be honest we felt that the course was unplayable, uncared for and an absolute disgrace .
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY .
Hot or what!
The course involves quite a lot of climbing as it is based in a low valley. The river and ruins of the hall make it special.Playing at mid day in full sun and extreme heat would not be recommended! Not too busy as a result I suspect..A cool pint of water and lager afterwards is a must. Rather surprised the club house had BBC playing rather than the USA open .
Great Course
Very nice course with some challenging holes but is also very good if you don’t always hit the ball straight.
Greens could do with a bit of maintaining. But overall it’s a very nice course and will be playing again
Golf tour
Enjoyed playing an extremely tight course. Great fun but slightly burnt up due to the dry weather. Thanks for a lovely day
Nice lay out but tees very tired
Nice lay out but tees very tired and some of the greens had a patches on them
Very hard
They really need to look at the rating of this course as it’s a lot harder than some other courses like wensum valley but it is rated lower I thought I played well and only had 34 points in a stapleford
Great
Amazing course with a few tricky holes, overall great experience for my first round and well kept fairways and greens
Nice Course
Great first time here would like to play spring and summer
Lovely Course affected by rainfall and high water levels
Was a gorgeous day in Jan first bit of sun in a while. A forgiving track and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Approaching greens and by the water was very boggy which made chipping and putting an envious challenge. Overall a good day out with my pals- looking forward to playing again on a Sunday day.
Must recommend a mid beer round in the summary!
Course open when covered in snow.
Booked for 3rd Jan at 11.50. Snowed all morning Greens and fairways covered in snow. Totally unplayable but still open!!! Therefore unable to get a refund. Bitterly dissapointed. Obviously this place is just a money making exercise as all other courses round about were closed. £52 down the drain!! Will not be going there again
Full of character
Love this course, set in the grounds of an ancient Hall it’s a pleasure to play. Lots of dog legs, several water hazards and undulating tricky fairways make it challenging, especially in the wet.
Would recommend
Some tough holes but not well maintained
Played here a few times. Wasn't super impressed with the place following my last visit. The tee boxes are uneven
Beautifully kept course
Despite the dry summer the course especially the fairways were in excellent condition. Some of the holes are quite narrow which for a high handicapper like myself can be tricky. Play within yourself and you will be fine
Great Coarse
Well maintained coarse, groundskeepers seen all the way round
Tee boxes in great condition
Greens were immaculate!!
Highly recommend!
Great little course
I always really enjoy playing this course with its selection of interesting holes.
Good parkland course for all golfers
Lovely course, well presented. Greens a little slow but were very presentable and consistent across course!
Full of character
A beautiful, quiet and interesting course. Please put tee markers on 16th tee.
