Good local course
Good course, there’s actually 2 to choose from, the Wensum and the valley.
Relaxing day of golf
This course was excellent to play friendly and play jogged along nicely, it has some testing doglegs to sharpen your skills long with water to miss. I enjoyed and would go again.
Value
Using tee off times the value was excellent as was the course. Greens very good and open course so perfect for 18 handicappers and above
Wensum Valley Golf
Had a great day playing a 2 ball with my father. Course in great condition, nice practice facilities (chipping green appears to be in the works), and overall just a very pleasant day
Valley course review
First time in a while that I’d played the Valley course due to late tee times and higher prices than the Wensum.
We were paired with 2 young boys who were beginners and who obviously needed some lessons and guidance.
Luckily we split up with them after the 1st hole and were then let through by a fourball. After that it was plain sailing and we got round quickly.
There was a middle aged man playing on his own which I’m surprised is allowed at peak time on a Saturday, the two ball infront instead of letting him join them caused a delay by waiting for him to play ahead.
The 13th green was almost unplayable with the slope and pin position ( this needs to be looked at as it’s barely legal! )
The course was in good condition and the greens as always were challenging if you were on the wrong side of the pin!
As I’ve stated before, when guests are checking in they really need to be pre-qualified as to their playing standard and general corse etiquette as on many occasions being a hotel complex with golf deals this let’s the course down.
There was a large group of men in buggies on the Wensum making a lot of noise as if they were at a football match, a course Marshall would be a good idea to remind players of pace of play, noise and course etiquette
Like a public course
The course is very popular and in good condition and with nice wide fairways which are very forgiving but it lacks character.
Rain didn't stop play . . .
With copious amounts of rain in the previous days, i wasn't expecting anything amazing, but with blue skies and sun at Tee time, i was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the course.
Fairways had been left a little longer, which i absolutely commend as this keeps the condition so much better. A few temporary tee boxes in play, but all regular greens playable and in fantastic condition - Well done Green keeping Staff.
Pace of play was very good, with no real hold ups even though they had a ladies competition in front.
Finished the day nicely with a coffee and Sausage & Egg Bap - Very tasty.
All in All, a great winter golfing day - Well done Wensum Valley
Nice course
Played the Valley course for the first time. Lovely looking course with tricky greens. Clubhouse is large and spacious and very impressive. A very enjoyable day.
Fun course for all abilities
Course is a lot of fun, some really cool holes, from the 1st over a mini valley, to the 12th with a high tee position. Lots of challenge but never feels unfair. Course was in really good condition overall, some of the tee boxes looked a little worse for wear but was only really noticeable because the rest of the course was excellent.
Beautiful views as you head out to the end of the front 9 and through the back 9. Glimpses of the Wensum course encourage you to go round that one straight away.
Driving range however is shockingly poor, mats worn down to being completely smooth, terrible balls, not many targets or distance aids. Stops it short of being an exceptional experience. Shop is a good size and well stocked but on the expensive side. Bar was reasonably priced but very dated.
Definitely somewhere you come for the course rather than the facilities.
A great choice of two courses
Have to very different courses this a great place to play. There is the Valley which is the most expensive. This has some tricky greens and challenging tee shots and think has narrower fairways than the sister course called the Wensum is perhaps a bit more forgiving until you reach the lower part of the course and water means there are some tricky tee shots. The terrace has lovely views and the bar is extensive. Facilities and the course are all ways well presented and staff in the bar and pro shop are friendly. A great venue for golf.
Fantastic course
Course in great condition played here many years ago and still very good on the Valley course. Some really fantastic holes. I would recommend this to anyone. Staff were great too.
Condition
The course is in such good condition considering the time of year and the weather we have been having in Norfolk, I have played there many times but it was a first time for my guests and they really enjoyed the day, we had a lovely Blt before we went out and that was soo goo too,
Thank you to all the staff who were so friendly and welcoming from the pro shop to the waiting staff.
Thanks again
