Blakes Golf Club

I don’t want to say too many nice things about it, because I don’t want it to get too crowded :) I haven’t played there in more than 3 years because the last time I played it the greens were an embarrassment. Although they are still not as fast as they should be, they are receptive and they’re also no longer missing large swathes of grass like they did 3 years ago.

Nice improvements of the clubhouse as well.

Can’t help but think this course throws £500 a day away on a warm weekend by not having a drinks / snack cart.

Greens were in best condition I’ve seen here in 18 months which was great, but pace of play was slow because the course can be penal off line. It’s a catch 22, make a course relatively cheap, get higher handicappers playing, you have to make the course slightly easier offline for those guys and girls that spray the ball a bit.

This is my third time playing here and it's a course that I intend to come back to.

On a very busy bank holiday, the pace of play was pretty reasonable, with only one or two idiots in buggies who seem to think that they don't need to wait, despite the fact that it was pretty obvious that we we were waiting for the players in front to clear the fairway or green.

Only negative about the course itself was that some of the tees and the fairways appeared not to have been cut for a couple of days.

Overall, terrific value for a course where every hole offers a unique challenge.

A longish course with not many trees so very open. Fairways 6/10 very patchy and lots of bare parts.

Tees really chopped up on many tees and greens were bumpy, long and lots of ridges.

Not bad for the price we paid but far better course within a few miles for not much more.

Worth a go if you want to practice you game

Will worth 20 quid any day of the week, very dry due to time of year, some lovely par 3 and long par 4’s ...

First time playing this course. Very cheap at £10 a round so can’t complain as good value for money. However, course conditions were poor - greens dreadful and fairways like hitting off concrete. Lots of litter around.

Overall, could have been worse for the price.

what a fantastic surprise this golf club is , far reaching rolling hills of Essex , less than 10 minutes from M11 /Harlow A414 exit , really good course , very hilly ,take a buggy , greens are good and will only get better , well looked after and some stunning looking holes from tee blocks , the 8th island green is a stunner but has a few more that are just as good.

well priced round at £20 buggy £20 , we played on a dry day and the ball travelled for miles , like a links course .

members and staff very friendly and helpful , all in all we will be going back , great days golf had by all.

scoring I play of 12 and shot a 86 , partners play of 16 he shot 91 last but not least plays of 24 he shot 107

highly recommend .

Give this course 5 years and it will be a gorgeous thing, challenging but a little gem of note.

We've just started playing this course and are really enjoying it. Has some good challenges (Hole 8 is very intimidating) which are enjoyable challenges. The greens are currently letting it down a bit, just need some work but didn't spoil our day

It seems this site plays golf it's self and has no need for reviews from everyday people

A lovely gem of a course, featuring 18 very different and individually challenging holes on a links style layout.

Only slight issue was that there was some reconstruction going on on some holes, particularly 17, but I imagine it will look fantastic when it's completed.

Overall, fabulous value, I strongly recommend it.
