Blake’s
Good layout . Shame it hasn’t had the attention over the years it probably deserves .
Nevertheless , perfect condition , game was ok . Cheap and cheerful sums it up really . . Shame , could be so much better .
Great days golf
Course was in excellent condition drinks offered while on course was handy due to great weather conditions
Open but with unexpected water festures
Played on 1 st day back. Car pack heaving but got off ahead of time & never held up nor did we hold anyone up. Hot test day of the year so far. Clear skies & wind was gentle. We were very lucky & would play again in high summer when would hope the greens would be flatter & faster & the fairway lies more even. An excellent comeback course after the 84 day lull
Golfnow SCREW UP
Blake's is a brilliant course all year round, greens firm and true, no temps, only 3 fairways slightly muddy.
The Only thing to spoil a cold but excellent golfing day on an excellent course was GOLFNOW you Double booked tee times....so with course's only allowed 2 balls=total congestion.
Even with a starting Marshall organising front and back tee off's we still took 51/2 hours, waiting on each tee. TOTALLY RUINED the day.
Best winter golf venue
Was very very cold! -1/-2 our whole round, but considering the temperature and all the rain we’ve had the course played really well and was dry. Managed to get a buggy in December for my dad which is rare in Essex.
With all the new lockdown rules, club houses closed etc... it was definitely hard being outside in the cold but the hot food/drinks buggy going round was a great idea, wish more clubs did that! The young girl serving was lovely, although she looked frozen, course was hard, very little carry because of frost but we would definitely play again.
Bring a flask!
Slow start and by the 3rd tee there were 3 groups waiting as the course was so overbooked with 5 minute tee times.
On the 10th there were more people filtering in so even more standing around which is 0 degrees isn't much fun. The ground was frozen in most places but where it wasnt it was like a bog. I understand courses need to make money but after a nearly 5 hour round as a 2 ball I wont be in a rush to go back.
If you have 6 hours to play a round then go for it
We was first out in the morning which was great as we went round front 9 in 1:45min when we got to the 10th there was a que of 10 groups.
The club decided to let groups start on the 10th and had massively over booked and we then spent 20min on each tee waiting.
Shame as the course is very good value for money
Good golf
I think Blake’s is one of the best draining courses you can find when it’s been heavy rain and one of the only ones that keep buggies on. They do well in these troubling times.
Excellent day in tough conditions
Considering the night before, there was a huge down pour Of rain! The course was in good condition and we enjoyed a great round here!
The inland Links
Booked a one ball, but because of the situation I arrived early and got paired up with Paul,,,odd man from a 3 ball. Course in good condition, the pace of play not bad, staff really helpful.
Like a bog
The course should not of let buggy’s out on the course they literally ruined the fairways and areas around the greens, excessive laying water due to no drainage
Autumnal Waterligging
The day I played I’m not convinced the course should’ve been open due to lying water in every fairway.
We had a similar problem yesterday. I think we were probably behind you somewhere?
We called golf now today to tell them about it and golf now admitted they had overbooked the times as 4 balls and were going to cancel us but the club said they’d do their best and get everyone out, for us I’m glad they did because we haven’t played in weeks, but I guess it did make it slow for everyone.
